<div class="IPBDescription">87 new sounds for marines</div> <i>Release time!</i>
Been working on these for what seems like forever. I made a bare-bones version for 1.04, but this time I've gone back and made a bunch of new recordings. All sounds have been completely re-edited.
About a year ago I tried to rip sounds from ALIENS and use them as the voices, but there weren't enough applicable lines. Many good lines are obscured by music or ambient sound. So I decided to make them all from scratch, and emulate the movie's radio static by generating a bunch of similar noises in GoldWave.
Anyway, the first zip file contains the voice sounds replaces those of the Commander.

That about does it. Let me know what you think.
I guess I'll revisit my ambience pack next... after I take a break of course. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

These sounds are GREAT! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
/me uses @ once!
Bugs? Ugliness? Let me know.
BTW: For all vox sounds I used a lower quality 16 bit 11khz wav format. The default sounds in NS are 16 bit 22khz. Since these sounds are grainy and low-quality anyway, you shouldn't notice a difference.
Basically this means that the file are smaller than the default and <i>should</i> result in better performance.
" marine 2- thank god for democracy!"
2 - awsome!
Very nice work! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
"2 Fade claws up!"
so the sounds are great... maybe u could rerecord some of them
-the taunt sounds are not really recognisable
-and some of the sounds end with a rough cut so they dont smooth out (thats not really a problem it just sounds strange when more request are ordered by a squad.
-and sometimes the voice is to nice (it sounds like holding thee nose)
so after all its a great pack but maybe these critics can help u on version 3 or an other pack 8)
Me loves it! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Nice job
Actually, it bugs me when people spam the taunts over and over, so I decided to just replace them with radio static. Maybe I should've explained that in the readme...

I'm sorry but I don't understand what that means. Could you elaborate?

Let me know which ones and I'll see what I can do.
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->A lot of the sounds are quieter than the defaults, which isn't much concern, but I couldn't hear ammo or health requests that well in battle. Other than that, excellent pack.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Just curious: Were you commanding? I want my pack to be usable and commander-friendly, too. I don't command much myself, so if the marines' requests are too soft then I'd better amplify 'em.
Thanks for the feedback, people!

ok..
1. put the taunts back it they are so great in game i love it. really and this damn its hot it here is cool. i just cant hear it in game.
2. that with the hard cut meant that sometimes the sounds is to fast faded out at the end (the request amo for example)
3. those sounds wich need a more aggresive sound( this nose thingy i will make a list tomorrow)
there is a huge potential in this pack and when this is tuned and well discussed it will be the best one around im sure
so list tomorrow
btw are there 2 different voices used. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
because if so i could point out wich one is the one that sopunds not aggressiv enough 8)
8) greetz
sushifx aka dillinja
