...regular NS
Yeah. I was in a freindly clan practice yesterday, we were done and chatting in the rr. One of the guys said that almost all of the servers run Combat.

Is this true?

I dont have anyrthing against combat, its just that i dont want it to completely overtake Regular ns.

  • RaVeRaVe Join Date: 2003-06-20 Member: 17538Members
Pff it won't. Im perfectly sure of it

Besides, I thought it only switched to Combat if you have less players than usual

Not entirely true, i think there's only two dedicated NS:C CM servers, but then again, there's only one dedicated NS server, the other 3 or so are both. I think, at least.

As far as NS:C goes though, i think that there should be more servers for it, it's the new mode and obviously needs more testing than NS does.

This is just my thoughts at least.

I wouldn't be surprised if most the severs ran combat, I mean, it's a whole new way of playing NS. The same would likely happen when it's released to the public, (I know I'll be playing it a lot anyway ), but once the novelty wares off the amount of people playing regular NS will, (hopefully), rise again.

Someone said in the changelogs back that almost NO ONE played in the regular NS game. Someone else threw out the 'it's new' rhetoric, but hell, if I had a dollar for every time I've heard that and it wasn't true...

Doubtful, you'll see why when you play it.

i just wish people would take that 'Veteran' pic out of their signatures, they obviously did the questionnaire about 5 times to get it, and no, it doesn't make you a real vet.

    *cough*

I doubt NS:C will take over NS because:
    1- NS:C probably gets frustrating
2- NS:C will stop being played if a certain amount of players exist in the server.

Only took me once...according to that, I find it hard to beleive that most people do not get that answer on your first try...if you play the game as it should be played, your answers should be pretty much the same that the real vets would respond with...

    It's new.

Seriously though, yeah. Remember when Sensory first was the best thing ever? Or Movement?

Or when Combat was being played only--wait, that hasn't happened yet =X

the test is easy as fuk to figure out.

The answers are chained together, and it's obvious which chain will produce what result.

    I answered honestly.

Run combat, or run combat only?

For any server that runs both NS game modes, this won't be a problem. Lots of people join to play combat, then it switches over to classic once the server fills enough. Sure, you're going to see lots of combat-only servers to start with, but within a few weeks I doubt there will be more than a handful.

I currently have 3 CM beta servers still showing up.
    1. only regular NS
    2. only NS: combat
    3. only new maps

I think that a good rotation will make co_ maps more like the fy_ maps in CS...fun to play as a break from the intensive stress of the normal game; but not to be played 24/7...

Same as the Sensories in 2.0 when it was released. It will be a fad. It will be popular. And it is fun. But does get tiring. Theres no real overall strategy to the game other that kill alot. So I'd say it'll be very popular for a few weeks, then die down a bit.

for a long time, the ns servers sayed almost empty. Today NS:C servers still stay fairly full, but regular NS is picking back up again. You do get tired of NS:C and regular NS is a much more satisfying experience. NS:C is just for when you want to play a quick game when you have time.

i answered the ns questionair honestly, and got veteran first time. if you answer honestly, then it does give you an honest profile, and tells you a little about how others see you!!

Well, its new, and of courswe they're gonna play it more than regular NS.

It;s like a kid with a new toy, he;ll keep playing with it to death, and soon after he gets bored with it, he'll go bac to some old habit.

That questionaire was so easy that after 3 questions I figured out witch answer led where and answered the rest without reading it and got VET first try

Edit: I retook it truthfully and got average joe. Then I took it again almost 100% truthfully and got vet again. I'm just saying that it was very easy to get the one you wanted.

You kind of missed the point in it...it is not to just get the vet...it is to tell you how you play NS and what others would see when they look at you...

A great player in your mind may be a bad player in another person's mind...it seems like that quiz was based on data trends...so when you answer it honestly with out trying to "figure it out", it will give you an accurate idea of what type of player you are in the NS community.

NS:C is shallow and repetitive, while vanilla NS is deeper, unpredictable, and more exciting. It's not really a hard decision, and I'm sure after NS:C fever has worn off, most of the community will realize that too.
