I seriously thought I was gonna be a good comm cause of my WC3 experience, I was an "ok" comm at first and then I just plain sucked after that (I don't have a mic, too shy) and it was 1.03 I first commed I think
I guess that's long after I was a newblet, but it's still fun.
edit: I remember when marines expected every single node to be protected with a set of turrets.
and it's fun too!
And that was just my first question....the rest well I knew because I found this site and RTFM :/
took me about 1 day to get the basics sorted and about a week to learn everything <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Edit: I also thought it was very cool that the aliens could climb walls <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
They seemed to be to complex <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
*Holy *****
And I remember that for the first ten or so games I just kept asking people "How do you play this game?" <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Thanks to the ladder/vent bug that was also my first kill in ns <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
needless to say things went downhil from there.
*uninstalls*
Seriously, it took me a month or two to bother installing it again.
"Um... where did half-life go?"
"Sensory chamber sounds coolest, i'll drop that"
"I'm a pretty good gorge actually..." (after spending the whole game dropping ocs in random spots and actually getting first place on the leaderboard through kills)
"WHY CAN'T I DROP SENSORY CHAMBERS?" (after DCs have already been put down)
"What....the...HELL is THAT???"
I didn't play marine until 1.03. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
This was coming from Wulfram 2, a similar RTS/FPS tank game where battles often last a good 30 seconds. Then...
"Holy crap! How did that gorge build that OC so quickly?"
I had yet to learn the intricacies of the "use" key, generally resorting to dropping OCs and waiting for them to build themselves.
After that, I caught on rather easily.
But I *seriously* thought medpacks spawn at regular intervals (just like UT/Q3).... In very convenient places. I also though waypoints were automated...
And of course the first buttun I pressed when I spawned was "B" <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
