Old SC days? That game is still hauling man! I still play it whenever I want to play NS, just pretend teh zerg are xenovolvers and my marines are poppin' their slimey a**es. Teh zerglings are skulks, teh gatherers are gorges, the are mutalisks (flyers) are lurks, the hydralisks are fades, and the ultralisks are onos', and my marines are poppin' 'em with AR's (HMG's to you firearm uneducated ).

I seriously don't believe Flayra would have a topic stickied for a month or so...
As for who I will play as, BOTH. I want to creep around as Skulk bited the heads off enemy marines, I want to blink around confusing the enemy, and charge into their base as an onos destroying all in my sight.
I also want to work as a team moving in squads, giving cover fire, and running down the hall just in time to save one of my comrades from a charging alien.
I also will try commander a few times I like strategy games alot, but i'm never really very good at them, so i'll give it shot and see how I do. I probably end up just being happy following orders for the glory of the marines (as long as we have a good commander that is)
As far as I'm concerned, the NS team is a step above the CS team in terms of planning and appeal to the two types of multi-players. CS to me seems primarily like a deathmatching mod with the occational bit of teamplay thrown in the mix. Can't wait to grip this mod in my sweaty hands.
Im wondering that if marines can use commander mode and build s ... yeh, the only time u see any real team work in CS is in clan matches, but hopefully every ns match will be overflowing with it! But i think there can also be a fair bit of team work with the aliens too, if players try to work together. Like co-ordinated assaults on group of marines, attacking from both flanks etc etc

Quote (Eos @ Sep. 09 2002,09:09)

Having a lot of teamwork might be a bad thing in an NS game if the commander has poor leadership qualities.

isn't there like a vote option by the players (marines?) to opt down their 'faulty' commander so a new one can 'logon' ?
The voting thing has certainly been thrown around as something the Dev team "wants" in the game, but whether or not it is in there now, or will be by v1, I do not know. Presumably, they don't need to use it, with only Playtesters who basically agree not to be llamas, but once she's out the door...
And thank you for the thank you, LnL. It's always nice to be recognized. Sometimes, I jump up on my chair, whooping excitedly, pointing at the screen. Well, no. But you reaffirm all our faiths in the intelligence of the potential newbies.
In fact, the entire community does that for my every day. It lets me know that this game will be populated by team players who I would trust to watch my back, walking down a hallway, checking out those dark corners.

I concur. Let LockNLoaded be an example to those of you who would wish to add to the opinionated Natural Selection community. I would be glad to have someone like him on my team, and I don't even know him that well.
Come on! People don't consider me a good teamplayer? I'm crushed... It appears my bad charisma stretches across the internet as well...
(BTW, I'm excellent in teamplay. I follow [most] orders like a puppy on crack.... and have some basic leadership skills. But when leading, I'm only as good as my followers wish to be themselves. If I run into the garage in cs_siege, from the side, I expect my teammates to follow as I shout "Let's move!". Sadly, they hardly do, and I'm usually gunned down as I take the first hits for them... basta'ds.)

No offence to anyone but this poll should be redone. The choices should be: (or at least what I think they should be)
1)Commander 2)Marines 3)Undesided 4)Aliens 5)Auto-Team 6)Friend's Team 7)Losing Team 8)Winning Team 9)Smaller Team 10)Larger Team 11)Spectator (dunno why someone would spectate but whatever)
Yes, I know there are 11 choices and the polls only allow 10. There is a trick I know.
Put whatever you want in the 11th slot into the 3rd slot. Then put whatever you want in the 3rd spot in the 11th slot. Do this when you are making the poll. So if you make this poll, put the choices in this way
bah /me not voting b/c I seriously want to play both sides
look, I personaly perefer team play based gaming, thus I can't wait to blast away some alien scum with me mates
however I do periodicly go in for some serious ### thumping DM (which I tend to be good at) not to mention that rooves (or cealings) are my friendd, I will probably be the psycho little skulk who runs around untill I finaly get the RPs to Onos the marine base ;D
I prefer deathmatch style play. Aliens will be my choice here. Not that I don't appreciate team play and stuff, but I've done enough teamplay mods. The team is only as good as the 13 year old TK that is in it, and that dosen't care and will shoot you in the back to get the airplane when you're right next to it and then run you over with it when you respawn and probably bomb you in a tank later just because.... *needs to stop playing Bf1942*
Aliens will rule. Wall-walking = teh r0xx0r IMO. That is such a huge advantage I don't know how anyone would want to settle with the old "feet on the ground" method. And flying? Invisibility? P2p Warping? To be an alien, is to defy the laws of Halflife. To be a marine, is to be a snack.
