I finally got around to getting back to lost. This is what I've done in the last 2 days. I've completely restarted it, too, by the way, and thrown out most of the work I'd done before.

Yah, very nice, I love the color scheme. That second shot from the top of that cavernous room is very cool. Imagine skulks running around up there, trying to get in position to drop onto the node!

Um, are those magical floating rails? They needs supports.

Didn't you see the railing being balanced on the top of the light?

    Very nice! Very nice indeed.

'This just in -- TSA scientists announced the creation of a material called antigravium today. Antigravium, as its name suggests, is able to float in one place completely against the pull of gravity. TSA R&D head Dr. Gene Porter stated, "I think there's a lot of potential for the future. However, our current production techniques do not allow for the creation of much antigravium. As we refine and hone our methods, we should start getting some great results, but in the meantime, antigravium works well for making objects that don't require a lot of material -- like rails, for instance."

I think the map looks great, Greedo. Maybe a little bit bare and blocky, but the texturing and especially the lighting is just about perfect. Keep up the good work.

TSA scientists today announced a device that allows one to see through walls with absolute clarity, as if the wall was not there. Even better, they have announced it can be manufactured out of a variety of readily available materials. They call the innovation a "window" and it is expected that ten years from now, most buildings should have a window.

Greedo, one small suggestion, if thats supposed to be a chasam of death, put a trigger_hurt at the bottom so that aliens cant sit at the bottom and leap all the way up in a single bound or other exploits of such areas.

I wans wondering, is that a large pit? Or is it just a short fall and you can climb back with a ladder or something?

Re floating rails: yeah, they're floating, but I don't think it really matters. I mean, if it's that much of a problem, I could add in a few supports, but the way they are now pleases me, I guess.

Re trigger_hurt: well, of course. You can't have a big deep pit without one. And no, there is no ladder to get back up.

Re Steve: I just didn't think my old work was good enough, compared to how I think I can work now. Some things will be the same, or have the same style, but a lot of the map is just being completely redone.

Re window: most of the spaceship/station maps I've seen never really did much to give the feeling that they're actually in space. And by that, I mean you never actually got to look outside to place yourself in any kind of location. I'm trying my best to let you know that, yes, you are in space with this level.

Mappers rarly think thier maps are good enough - however I must say these new screen shots do look a lot better than most lost rooms. I still think the ogrinal lost hallways ( the one the marines use to spawn in on lost13 ) is extremely good. But they probably took too many brushes, etc. Nice to see lost isn't dead - and looking better than ever.
