<div class="IPBDescription">What's the weirdest tactic you've seen?</div> Hey guys!
I wanted to open up a thread to all of those underused tactics which nobody ever consiters!
Probobly the weirdest tactic I can think of which was sucsessfull in my experience, was in Hera. I was commin a game, and decided to try something risky. After relocating to Hera Reception, I made a com chair behind the boxes at the rez node where we spawn, (you can put a com chair there). and gave myself no defenses. Then, I spread out the upgrades to various electrified nodes, (an example was the armory, and proto lab at holo, while the observatory, and the upgrade thingey was at hera). That made my rines patrol from hera, to holo frequently, (using pg), which deterred many onii rushes. The best result, was because a really early sulk rush killed the com chair, and they couldn't figure out where I was making all of this stuff from, so they searched around each node for the chair with no luck. They kept on killing chairs, but every time they got one, another would pop in another position. It was a long game, but they wasted so much rez trying to kill fake com chairs that we ended up being able to siege and jetpack every hive, and we took the victory.
It doesn't seem very weird, but it is, because I remember sitting in the corner about to fall off all alone, while 5-7 sulks ran around saying, "where the hell is that com chair!?", while my team secured another hive <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Still works in 2.0x. 5+ ips works better if you're taking heavy casualties.
best strat ever.
5 minute's of game, walked into alien hive, all marine's dead except 3 more.
Dropped commander chair, 4 IPs, Armory and down went the hive.
and one time a comm gave the whole team heavies and gls!!!!
A marine in a vent fighting with a skulk called out for a medpack and got an arms lab dropped on his head. This shielded him from the bites and allowed him to kill the skulk. Madness, yet funny.
My team splits into 2 and does a JP rush to both hives with HMGs and pwnz both hives at the same time.
Some of those stratergies aren't stratergies either. Electrifying a hive? It's apparent you were already winning. I mean things which are actually cool. The arms lab on a rine to save him from sulks is interesting tho <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
i just wanted to drop a medpack for the poor marine who was going to die..
missclicked and the fade got stuck in the armslab
fade was so confused he didn't even use unstuck just sat there and got killed by the marine <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
funniest thing i ever saw <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
since then i often try to stuck bigger lifeforms with buildings some call it lame yeah maybe but it costs res and is not overly effective.. but it's a good aiming practice for a commander "come here lil lerk, let ma drop an arms lab on your head" and if it works it looks funny like hell <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
Also in 1.04 in eclipse we used first ~20 mins to collect res and then relocated to computer core and blocked all ways in whit CC walls. After one and half hours of acid spamm/welding they finally got in. Wasnt successful but atleast it was fun.
1.04 was good for weird strategies as marines totally owned.
its not my original strat btw, some guy on this forum posted it a while ago, forget who, but know that im giving you all the credit <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
having 5 of the jpers make it up top and drip mines all over the hive......
the whole rest of the team rushes in to make a distraction... unloades level 3 guns into the hive... the 5 remaining jpers unload thier lmg into hive.....
4 remaining jpers do pistols
1 remaining jper uses his knife and crouches...
one idiot skulk sets off all the mines killing the last jper... kills the hive... <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

'Twas the map with the ventilation hive (forgot name). Anyways, we hadn't relocated, base was getting its arse kicked, comm gave me a jp and welder and I got the hell outta there. Scoped out the map undetected, and finally I saw a place that had very little activity; one of the nooks in ventilation hive, on the left if you were facing the higher part of the room (where the RT was). Anyways, comm puts down a cc right as his console is smashed to bits. I build it, hop in and built 3 IP's and a TF (we had lotsa res somehow, might as well spawn faster) and then the other guy who knew more about comming then I did got in the console. We were under orders to hold fire, by my suggestion. ALiens respawned and ran right by, looking everywhere else on the map. Ventilation was almost unguarded from our position.
Well anyways, we built 3 sieges and had them complete construction at exactly the same time, took out vent hive quickly, and got a turret farm up in short order. Lasted another 30 mins and almost got a <i>third chance</i>. I've done similar comebacks like that from the other side. Sneaky backstabbing is the way to go, when alot of poo hits a really big fan <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
You call this weird? I do this ALL THE TIME! It works great. Shotguns come up faster then sieges and take the hive down almost as fast (if you have the numbers). Instead of turrets you can get mine packs.
I did this just the other day on veil. My marines had been sweaping accross the right side of the map, taking all the nodes but 2x res. When they walked into an empty cargo hive room and found it to be the alien hive, i gave them an armory, shotguns and mine packs. After killing it the aliens were left with two gorges in subsector defending a growing hive. A scan told me that a few offence chambers were in the hive, and since it wasn't done building I tried something odd. With my marines near the hive (but out of siege range) I gave them a prototype lab (armory in base had just finished upgrading). With them defending the proto type lab with their shotguns (that they got in cargo hive) I start jetpacks researching since it doesn't take very long. The hive goes up and a skulk attacks them (it gets cut down by 4 shotgun rounds). Jetpacks finish and I drop them all jetpacks and recycle the prototype lab. They all fly to the top of sub hive and shotgun it down. Game over. The marines kind of liked the "get equipment as you go".
