Yet Another Steam Problem

(Yes, I checked the guide)
Ok, I'm just gonna make it plain and fast, whenever I try to run a game on steam (I try to do half-life and CS at first), when the loading screen appears, I get this thing asking me to send an error report about half-life and its forced to shut down. How exactly do I prevent this?

P.S: How can I post screenshots? It would do a better job explaining.

The error you are getting is a windows XP error. There could be 100 things causeing this error and you have got to give alot more details than that for an answer. To get screenshot just hit the printscreen button on you keyboard, then open MS Paint and paste.

Ok, lets see if this picture works. If it does, you'll see what exactly is going on.

Well, it says 'see what data the error report contains'. It might help people answer your questions.

delete the config for each game you are trying to start under steam. and by delete i mean going into the directory and deleting each config.cfg file.

Nope, I just deleted all the .cfg files from my steam folder and I still get the same **** and when I try to run, the .cfg file just gets added back in.

Yeah i've been getting the same problem but its only been recently. before that i would get the error at random. And yes the file is somthing to do with Nvidia but ive updated and i keep getting the same problem

the problem i think is.. that dll it is showing (nvogl.dll) i think. You either have to delete/replace that file.. or reinstall ns + your video drivers using the detonator drivers.. not just the cd install. Im pretty sure that would solve your problem. if it comes up with a new one.. just post again.

About the video card thing, mine doesn't support OpenGL so I'm forced to use Direct3D (and switch to software for the other mods due to lag issues) so I don't think its my video card.

And I always ignored the updates (EDIT: Nope, its up to date, just checked)

Press start-button+break (or rightclick my computer and select properties) then go to the hardware tab, press device manager and press the + in front of display adapters.
This is for XP btw, otherwise it's win+break and then click on the device manager tab.

In case you cannot press the windowsbutton+break at the same time, go to start > control panel > system
(Used to be support for philips & a -lot- of other brands.. yes, at the same time o_O. In case you ever got me on the phone, sorry for my poor German )

I would guess that you have a geforce card, and that's why the nvidia driver ends the game and crashes. This is a known bug, that has been fixed in the beta versions. As far as I know, there isn't much you can do besides downloading the lates Nvidia drivers

Here is a link for the XP drivers: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_52.16
