Weird In-game Problems

After just getting ns working with steam I'm having a ton of weird problems. I can't F4, I can't type, my mic is almost silent, i can only use the primary weapon....and sometimes i have really high ping for no reason i can see.........anyone know?

    try to reconfigure your keys. OR copy your old config.cfg to the ns steam dir.

    I did try reconfiguring keys, and after installing ns again, there was no config.cfg....

    the config.cfg file holds your keys configuration and some other stuff. When you change your controls in the menu, it changes the config.cfg file. if you change the controls, a new file will be created if it doesn't exist, or if there's still no config.cfg, create a new file then change your controls and HL will fill it automatically.

    tried it, and nothing changed...then i got in one server and everything worked completly fine...changed servers...still worked...restarted steam....back to all the problems in all servers..

    look at the bottom of your config.cfg.

    it should be running another file userconfig.cfg. check that file for any commands, remove/add what you want there. That file won't be overwritten by the ingame keyboard editor menu.

    Oh...well that makes 4 people I know with it so far....I guess we're just screwed....the most frustraiting part is how its not consistant....sometimes everything works perfectly.....jesus...its annoying..

    add:

    exec userconfig.cfg

    to the bottom of your config.

    then save and make a config file named userconfig.cfg in the ns directory. Copy and paste your config into the userconfig and then delete the "exec userconfig.cfg" from the bottom of the newly pasted config so it wont loop and cause you to time out of games.

    also, paste your config here, you might be the problem.

    yeah and if you do this and if it stil doesn't work sometimes then just type exec "userconfig.cfg" in the console.
