Gorgie Rushie!

The fatty goes to war
The tactics of this unusual tactic so far:
Time: Early to middle
Weapon used: Heal Spray
Group: Three-quarter gorges, quarter fighters
How to: At the start everyone gorges or fights and makes a rt or a mc. Then all the gorges group up and rush the Marine base with heal spray making them unkillable and a gorg rush can sweep HA off their feet. All this time there is a gorg or two walking around capping every single rt on the map. If the gorges die, then it's easy to just regorge.

Now the quandary...
Does it work later on?
Why isn't it ever used?

First question: I don't know, I've never seen it tried later on.

Second question: I don't know why you got this opinion. The primary explantion is that it can be a highly risky tactic, for it to succeed (in the clanned enviroment anyway) you need to put all your resources toward it, should it fail, you will most likely be seriously cut back economically. In the pub enviroment, it generally takes too much organization to be succesful. I've seen it done once or twice in organized pub sessions, the most memorable one was on tanith. The marínes (including me) relocated to the far end of Reactor Room, and we had barely gotten 2 ips and a tf up before 5 gorges and a skulk come charging at us from Cargo. After 2 minutes of constant fighting we finally start killing the gorges (respawning from marine start). A few minutes later we managed to get a siege up and killed most of them in one shot. So why did it fail: because they couldn't keep us from respawning.

Used lots. works somes times and some times it dont. Its counterable by concentrated fire, mines and shotguns. its more successful when you have some skulks in the mix.

Heheh I've done gorge rushes on a 24 player server, and 12 gorges rushing is a sight to behold (virtually unstoppable too).

If you encounter marines that are able to take you guys out (ie, mines in base or shotgunners waiting) then just leave their base alone (mabye drop some oc outside to keep em in their a bit longer) and go around in a big group to take over the map (ie, drop ever resnode you see, what up oc everywhere). When that is done, somebody should be able to put up a hive (if one isnt already up) and others should be able to evolved into fade/onos (trust me, there is always a couple ).

OC and DC walls near a base can be quite evil *IF* well manned.

That way 2 gorgies can be healing up like mad while the rest of the team keep leaping the OC/DC wall to rampage through the spawn. Pretty good until the marines get a siege up, but by that stage you pretty much own the map and they've not moved two feet.

Easy to do against nublar pub opponents, but clever players will just pull off a relocation or blitz your hive, which would have zero defences since you've spent all the res on an OC wall.

the best counter to the gorge rush... shotguns. you've just spent 30 res (assuming 3 sgs) to kill 60 res of gorge. and now some of your team has shotties, and none of the aliens have res for rts.
