I decided to make a website this time, just cause it's easier. Even if it means that I have to use *small shudder* Geocities.

The texture combinations remind me of 'space station nothing', which can only be a good thing.

It feels a bit too busy, with the rather chaotic looking architecture and few too many textures in each view.

The lighting is very white looking too, try repacing the white with some subtlte coloured light.

I suppose I'd be lying if I said I hadn't taken a little inspiration from Nothing's textures, but then again, I suppose I've also been influenced by all the other great mas out there. And I'd be plain stupid to try and make something like Nothing, since I obviously can't compete (just like CS clones, heh ).

Maybe I'll try brightening the orange ambients a bit. I tried blue earlier and it looked like total crap with the textures. Actually, the existing lighting isn't white, it's gray .

Which shots look "busy?" In all the "hallway" shots, r_speeds hardly ever go above 300 or so, and I want a bit of detail. Yes, I know there's a difference between "detail" and "random junk everywhere," but I'd just like some suggestions for improvement.

    *edit* w00t I'm a Beast! (post-count wise) More comments?

I love the half-clean, half-gritty industrial look of it

texture placing is a bit haphazard, and some of your floors + roofs look a bit flat and blocky.

you need to throw in some other lighting colour there methinks, just to improve the general atmosphere.

    its looking good so far

It seems very ...what's a good word... solemn or abandoned... hmmm....very lonely in fact... Which is good for atmosphere, I think... I also think that the addition of coloured lighting may destroy this effect - I guess it comes down to what sort of feeling you are trying to attain. I do agree that there is an element of busyness that hampers the overall feel... then again, we haven't seen much of it yet - so the more shots you show, the better of an idea we'll get..

I personally want to see some shots of infested rooms, but what you have there looks damn good. I agree with what's been said about the whole 'abandoned' feel. As long as you can keep that feel, I think you've got a stellar map.

Lots of nice detail here, those textures could use a bit of tweaking and fitting though.

    Looking good!

i see too many diferent textures in all the shots as well as some texture combiantions really close to "nothing" which doesnt mean its bad. IMO you should try another textures there to make it look.....yours only, if you understand me. its dificult not to use all the same textures, the easy thing is not to use the texture combinations from other maps. (althouhg its not so easy when they look so great).

    Alright.

I kinda like my texturing in the first pic (http://www.geocities.com/vyvn328/galileo1.JPG), with the ramp and stuff. Kinda clean without being boring, right? I think I'll use a texture set more like that. Basically, I was just experimenting with details and multiple textures, since my old map had so few of them. I would never release anything in which I had taken ideas that were too similar to another map. Inspiration is still good. Now I can finally start on a map that I like, from start to finish. I feel I improve with each restart, and that's what it's all about, right? Ahhh, optimism is great, eh?

Let the rebuilding begin. Take three!
