<div class="IPBDescription">and both of you just stare at each other</div> This has happened to me in multiple games, and I thought you guys would love to hear about it. Always happens when I'm coming out of the vents, and it always happens when I am a gorge. I turn around, marine is right there, and we just look at each other for half a second. Then we start either running or firing.

I always laugh so hard afterwards.

These are fun.

I remeber one time on Tanith as Marines. We had relocated to double and most of us where dead. So the commander initiates a Distress Beacon. About 7-8 Marines respawn back at the original start location to where there happened to be a gorge buliding a RT. We all look at him, the gorge slowly turns around and looks at us.

That cute little thing was met by a barrage of about 350-400 rounds of Light Machine Gun fire. Needless to say, that gorge didn't last long.

Once in good cs, I was spectating someone and he was playing pretty bad. Both team had killed each other and there were only a n00b and him surviving. The n00b carried the bomb and was on his way to plant. The players I was speccing went out to scout and they found each other. They ran into each other and instead of launching ammo, they simply backed off and went on...for something like 18 seconds, then the player realised that it was a T. We laughed for ages about this!

This is exactly what happened to me in ns_nothing... Rines had relocated to cargo and were getting their arse kicked, and someone said over the chat 'marine start node is free', and I had 15 res to spare so I waddle over there. Drop the RT, get it about a 1/4 built and then... 10 marines suddenly spawn... =( If the RT wasn't in the way it would've been one of those stare scenes. Anyway, after the initial 'oh s***' shock I tried making a break for the exit, but alas their collected fire-power killed me in less than a second.

I'm reminded of another time, but it wasn't really a 'stare-down' scenario and more of a 'aw bloody crap' one. In eclipse I was a gorge in triad with a teammate skulk. A couple of rines come in from eclipse hive and kill the skulk, (He was half-way across the room and out of range of healspray), and then unload a few pellets into me. Carpace kept me alive, however, and I ran out the side corrdor with 30 hp... Only to run right into another rine's legs.

I have had a priceless stare moment. It's on ns_origin, right outside marine start. I'm heading down into laser drilling, when I hear an onos coming. I throw my sorry butt into a corner and hope to god that the onos doesn't see me - and he doesn't. He proceeds to charge into the base and wreak havoc - including devouring our 1 HA. During that time I creep back outside our base. The Onos falls back outside MS - only to meet me. Our eyes lock, we're both looking down my pistol barrel, and I can hear him say "Ohhhhh sh**!"

It has to do with some sort of Physics law....I remember back in CS where everytime I see an opponent time seems to 'freeze' so it leaves a time gap for me to aim. I just don't know how it happens.

It's really weird though. This doesn't happen to me anymore. Must be my bad reflexes again....

the best one for me was when i was tearing back to base from engine hive as an onos was eating our cc only to come face to face with 2 onos - we all just stood there staring at each other for about 30 seconds then i dropped my lmg and pistol on the floor and me and the onos became good friends as we wandered round the map together <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'> was really funny... untill a skulk ate me 10 minutes later that is <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'>

Yep, those priceless stare scenes. If I see something of an alien race I immediately shot it, but there are those stare scenes, when I am crouching somewhere, or walking through a doorway, and see a skulk sitting right there looking at me, ready to eat my face.

I like following absent minded marines as a fade/onos... as soon as they seem to be aware of a presence I chuckle , causing them to turn around and face me.

On the other hand , there's also an interesting split second of silence when the world seemed to shake , when I was facing an 1.04 onos (as a la lmg marine) running from the other side of the atmospheric Antechamber on Nothing : couldn't even shoot that onos , I froze in place with my teammates , we were like OMG and ran the hell away from it.

I can't wait for facial expressions to be implemented in NS 2...

Hmm, that one time on hera where we'd practically boxed the marines in. I was the only Onos, and I was constantly running back and forth to keep the marine infection from spreading all over the map. Wherever I came, the marines turned tail and simply ran, with me pounding after them (stomping wouldn't have been fun <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'> ). So once I happen upon a marine who was in the doorway that leads to hera entrance, obviously typing. So I just stand in front of him, blocking him from the way in, and chuckle. He doesn't move, but types "uh oh". So I type "well, hello there". "You ain't letting me in?" he says. "Nope" I say. "Aww" he says. "Oh, ok" I say and move aside, just as he suicides. Server had thirty second suicide delay. I couldn't stop laughing at that. I guess it's one of those "should've been there" moments.

I grab suits of heavy armor and chase loner skulks into places that are heavy-inaccessable, like vertical vents and such, with my knife out the whole time. I think at one point I'd cornered a skulk in a vent, and I went on for about five minutes jumping up at him and waving my knife around, then trying to see if the welder had longer range. A few times, I'd be like "COM, NEED JETPACK!" and stuff over chat, or call for backup. The skulk ended up parasiting me from 260 armor to around 110, where-upon I said, "Actually I'm kind of low on armor, BRB skulky", he jumped and bit me while I pulled out HMG, wasted him. 46 armor or so. Fun times.

I remember people used to let this stuff happen all the time as fades. Just stand somewhere random, wait for bored rambo-vets, and jump up and down while his bored marine rambo-vet friend jumped around the bouncing fade and such. Or the marine and fade would team up for great justice. Whatever. Good stuff.

went into a game where the marine almost won the match. Got enough for onos, and was waiting in a corride with a bunch of sulk to ambush a marine team coming to kill our hives. they were weiding a door open, with me waiting to stump them...... but when the door open, I saw a whole team of HA with hmg, I stared at them, and freak out.
