[wip] Grenade Launcher

BurncycleBurncycle Join Date: 2002-11-24 Member: 9759Members, NS1 Playtester
This is a 4 shot, 40mm pump action grenade launcher based on the china lake experimental grenade launcher. I gave it a simple frame grip with a telescoping stock, so soldiers wearing body armor can operate it comfortably.

This is still a WIP. I need to add the sights, and I need to tweak the receiver (the ejection port is wrong, it should only be on one side).

When I do that, I'll post a download link for anyone interested in skinmeshing/skinning.

It looks really good, except it feels like the handle would break after a few uses, perhaps you can considers fattening it a bit?
I would definetly use it even if the handle isnt changed
    continue the good work

The stock or the grip? To tell the truth, the grip was just a quick placeholder I was originally going to opt for an M-16 looking grip or something similar. We'll see how things turn out though.

I have an interest in skinning it if you have a skinmesher.

/me likes a lot, altough the grip.. thing looks really bad.
Take out the M4 style stock and put in something a bit more futuristic.

I like that temp grip, maybe do something like this for support?
  • BurncycleBurncycle Join Date: 2002-11-24 Member: 9759Members, NS1 Playtester
Yeah, I'll probably tweak the grip a little.

The link has been updated with the new pictures. Smoothing groups are better (slightly), the receiver has been fixed, and I did a few tweaks. All that's left is the sight, looking for good reference pictures on those

depends what kind of sights you are looking for.. here are some basic sights used for a few different GL-attached models

So it's basically a shotgun that spits out grenades? Cool, that'd be fun to use once in a blue moon.

I think a bolt-action grenade launcher would be cool too. *hint hint*

I finally added the sights. The problem is, I don't have too many detailed pictures so I just guessed. This jacked up the polies and is still probably incorrect. But it LOOKS alright I suppose.

With one high poly grenade, the whole setup runs 4447 polies. I'm sure by deleting backfaces and what have you it can be reduced to around 2000 (maybe even a lower poly grenade). I'll work on an optimized model tonight.

The download is at Thrill 2 Kill: http://www.thrill2kill.com/wip/weapon/weapon.shtml if you want to play around, skin it, whatever.

And here is the final preview.

    I don't like the post.
Remember that the crosshair takes care of the ranging mechanism! The crosshair is built into your helmet. You should have a scope with a series of wires on it, ie wireless transmission to your helmet.

So what do you think guys? Yay or nay on the ladder sights?

Hmmmm....that is a very nice Nade Launcher..it also gives me an idea for one. You know how the chamber in the default one spint..will why not make it like a double barrel one so it shoots spins "like the chamer" then fires the next one out of thetop one. Or is that too much work? None the less awsome model..i look forward to using it if you complete it

Keep 2 versions of the gun, one with and one without the ladder sight.
Though I think its pointless with a built-in rangefinder in the marines helmet, virtually eliminating the need for iron sights...
