A Sweet Chamber Tactic

YE!
Heres what you do,
1. Build a Sensory before anyone places a first chamber
2. Get everyone **** off at you
3. Expand sensory to cloak allies on as much of the map as possible
4. Get second hive quick
5. When marines can detect you quickly, build a defense chamber.
6. Since now much of the map is set up to cloak you, just get regen.
7. Now it's hard for the marines to advance quickly, so theres not much to defend and
8. You win.

Anyone like this idea? I've used it, and it seems to work quite well.

    3. "Hey guys, drop some sens!"
    4. "C'mon!"
    5. Get second hive

    7. Since now much of the game will have only one chamber, die repeatedly against rines with MT
    8. You lose

In 2.01, if you're going for sc first, you might as well get mc next; if they can't see you and can't hear you, it's pretty damn hard to kill you.

sc then mc is a death sentence, since it offers no real support for higher life forms.

a 4 min hive 2 with a gorges and lerks means you really don't need a higher lifeform... hell.. cloaked/silenced skulks, add in sporespam on ms = gg... but 4 minute hives don't happen that often so ya.. i guess dcs then...

I've played in more organised pubs and SC first isn't always a death sentence. I won't repeat what has been said in alot of other threads though. Sc first requires alien co-ordination - not always found on pub servers and definatley a second hive for the higher lifeforms.

InquisitiveIdiot is right; don't drop sensory without asking your mates first. It'll kill your spirit of teamwork and close lines of communication, and that'll lose the game for you. It isn't even that you dropped sens, just that you did it in an irritating way. Heck, I even confirm before I drop DCs.

Because my installation of normal NS is screwed I can only play 1.3, but you do get a choice of first chamber in that build. Instant kill skulks are very powerful early game. In fact, if you thought COMM's were paranoid in 1.2.. they just got a whole lot worse.

PS: A Focus Onos is one scary tank. (A single hit can take out none-heavies)

you would think a normal ono would kill a non-HA in one hit anyways.

SC isnt a new tactic, slapping it everywhere isn't something NEW AND AMAZING.

What would be new and amazing is if people slapped DCs and MCs everywhere then went gorge, then gorgdanced all of the marines to death with regenerated HP and HealSpray. and if it worked too.

Well, if it doesn't, that's wasted res that could have put up the next hive Even with skulk support it's risky.

Personally I'll take silence over cloaking as a skulk, when they get MT it transitions nicely into celerity making the chamber not rendered practically useless by one upgrade. Plus it doesn't slow down your movement over the map, and is much more useful for higher lifeforms. I think MDS is the ideal chamber order, the only downside is a slight delay on the regen fade for anti-elec. But honestly, there's really no excuse for not having the second hive going up by 4-5 minutes or so.

    Sorry 'bout that...

My point was: Sense are actually viable now in 2.0. Cloaked skulks outside of marine start just out of range of obs will hold away marines. It's not as uncommon as you think.

But really, if you hope for an early-game fade/onos, defensive upgrade is the essential. Which means if you use MC or SC and you screw up, then the 'rines can't lose Fades that are silenced still die to 30-40 LMG bullets.

So if you go MC or SC, make sure you know your team is competant enough to use them.
