The Custom Particle System...

<div class="IPBDescription">how in the heck do I get it to work</div> I've tried following the guide linked to in the FAQ but it just doesnt work... There is no sationary sprite where I put the env_particles_custom, nothing happens when I try to edit it with the editps command, I've tried toggleeditps but that doesnt do anything but give me a mouse cursor. Have things changed alot since that guide was written? (it mentions NSTR2 <_< )

The in-game particle system editing isn't in NS v.2.0 (or anything since NSTR2, for that matter). ChromeAngel's Quickstart guide has sample systems that work; those should help you figure it out.

I stress read the Newbie Mapping Forum, why?

    1. This falls under the category.
    2. You'll get your answer quicker there.
    3. You won't have people like me annoyed, but telling you where you should post.
    4. ChromeAngel and Greedo both released a version of how to create particles in NS. It's likely to be in one of the stickied threads.

    1. I guess I posted here because I didn't think of the particle system as a 'newbie' type thing, seeing as its rather complex (maybe that forum should be renamed)
    2. I got the answer quite quick here tyvm.
    3. Well, I cant help it if people get annoyed easily
    4. No, there are only 2 stickys, niether of which with particles.

I also searched this forum and the newbie one, and found nothing.

Well if you want to go by that then every single thread that is a question in this forum should be moved to the newbie forum.

A very good point, yes they should, just they frequently aren't. We lack a dedicated mapping moderator, to be honest. We do occasionally get them through here, but the amount of question posts and newbie posts that SHOULD be in the newbie mapping forum just aren't moved there, so more and more people feel that this is the right place to post questions when it is, infact, not the right place.

hmm... anyone feel like asking if they can apply to be the official mapping forum babysitter? It'd mean long hours, little pay, and a lot of people posting to find out where their quesiton was sent to.... and asking it again, but it would aid all of us in keeping what precious little remains of our sanity.
