Actually, we've seen a lot of other bugs and oddities. Besides that, there's the infamous crash in combat when you join a marine team ( happens randomly).

I'm disappointed too, but seriously, some people seem too spoiled these days. It's freaking christmas, play with your GI Joes or Pokemon or whatever the hell crap you got for christmas and give the devs a day off from the incessent "are we there yet?". By the way, several new mod releases came out over the last few days including Sven Coop and Science and Industry, give them a spin.

For those of you who are getting tired of 2.01, I'll invite you to come on over to #nspug on gamesnet.
We just got a new (ableit slightly buggy) bot up and running to facilitate the pickupgame process. I think we've been pugging from 9am to 1am constantly for the past three days, its good times.
For the rest of you, join up too. It's a good way to pass the time before 3.0.
Also, if they would release a bugged up NS, it wouldn't be that fun. And also, that would defeat the purpose of private beta testing. The forum would be clogged with complaints about "ooo.. ohnoes too strong1! Nerf aliens!1" and the like.
Furthermore, with forum spam in mind, the server that this forum runs on probably isn't cheap, and I'm sure flayra or joev get surcharges for the amount of bandwidth the site uses per month. Flayra (and a few of the other devs, probably) are living off of donations, so they can't really go on affording this forever.
One of the reasons that flayra gave consties beta access was probably to entice people to donate. This isn't a bad thing. It's more of a business move. If you want to play 3.0 so badly, then donate.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that had their hopes pinned on 3.0 coming out on Christmas. It would have been the greatest gift of all.
There are way too many brainwashed flamers on this board yammering about how it'll be released "when it's done" and to stop asking.
But there are some problems with this.
Firstly, whether or not it's "done" is a subjective determination. 3.0 is not going to be perfect no matter how long we wait, and there are always going to be complaints about balance and changes in any release. People keep saying they would prefer a delayed release that is bug free and well balanced rather than an immediate release that is bugged and imbalanced. However, there are going to be bugs and imbalances whether the update is released now or a year from now. The fact is that a public release of the current 3.0 build with all its blemishes would be greatly appreciated by the vast majority of players. Minor bugs and balance problems are inevitable, expected, and can be worked out in minor future patches.
Secondly, NS players are entitled to pressure the developers to expedite the release. There's nothing wrong with wanting 3.0 to be released as soon as possible, and there's nothing wrong with pressuring the developers to hurry their progress. Saying it will be released when it's "done" does not address the issue of how hard the team is working to get it "done." I'm not saying the team isn't working hard, because frankly I don't know. I am saying, though, that the flayra fanboys telling those who ask when 3.0 is coming out to SUYF do a disservice to those of us who would like to see a timely release. If you want to know what happens when a project team isn't being pressured to hurry things along, look the way of the Deus Ex mod, Red Sun 2020. They began work on it relatively soon after Deus Ex came out, and have been working it ever since. Deus Ex 2 just came out, and their release date is still "when it's done." Pressure on developers to work dilegently is good, not bad.
There are many players, such as myself, who have quit NS until 3.0 is released. There is no good reason to further delay 3.0, and there are many good reasons to release it immediately. The community will be revived (game patches bring in new players and bring back old players, even if they are minor bug/balance fixes), students will be able to play over winter break, playtesting will be extended to a larger population, it would be a great holiday season gift to the community......I could go on but I don't think I need to.
3.0 could have and should have been released as a Christmas gift to the community. We need more people pressuring the developers to get the update out as soon as possible.
If 3.0 is released within the next hour I retract what I've said <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> So true.. In regards to your post, Quietus, how can it not be buggy?
The devs continue to implement new features to keep everyone happy, and new things=new bugs. That's why (partly) half life has so many bugs still.
It's true with any piece of software. Windows, as a prime example. So many bugs, but it's been out for about 20 years. It's a matter of adding new features.
Remember Devour when 2.0 was originally released? There were bugs/features that needed to be tweaked.

You may want to look into Buddhism (if you don't expect anything, then you won't be disappointed when it doesn't happen) <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

Speak English please..
NS is going to be officially supported by Steam, and Steam automatically downloads patches anyway, so there's no real need for intervention on your part. How hard is it to click on an icon and let the program do its thing (provided you have it set to auto update)? Your point is a rather moot one.
Though the part about the current build being buggy as hell is right, from what I hear.
Anyway, I just hope the NS team doesn't turn this into a Duke Nukem Forever fiasco.
Dude, why would they? I mean, we are still busy beta testing and reporting bugs while the dev team is busy improving. It will be released as soon as Flayra thinks it's stable and everything he wants it, is in it.

Maybe I should have put an emoticon there, seeing as it was a joke.

Very true. It's worked flawlessly with Day of Defeat and it's little updates it had right after v1.1 was released.
If 3.0 is released within the next hour I retract what I've said <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
So true.. They have yet to get all the bugs out of Half-life
And how long has it be out?
Sure the new stream versoin will have bug but. There is bug still in the code. It almost impossable to get them all fix as some my not apper untill 2010. with some new windows OS.
Maybe I'm missing something, but how can a 3rd major release of a mod that's been in beta testing for weeks (months?) be in that bad of shape?

Read my earlier post
"Maybe if the NS team choose some playtesters who know what there doing, NS ould be out now. Not everyone with a high post count, and $20 know how to succesfuly test a game. Just my little rant/rave <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo--> "

Because of the design of the game, the 25 year old Half-Life engine, the amount of changes Flarya's added and, as SS pointed out, the limited team Flarya is working with. Are there a great deal of testers? Sure, but most of them (including myself) are only there to report bugs, not to work on them. That's left up to the small team that Flarya's appointed, which is far too small for the amount of work he has done/is doing.
So as a Christmas present to him and his team, <b>shut up</b>.
[edit] Guy above me got it before I did.... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> He put it better, though[/edit]
