Guys...

The newest Bhopping stance taken by the SI team in the latest patch kicks ****.

    For one:

While you have a scientist, your speed drops by half. Bhopping with this gives you nothing. If you have more than 3 scientists, then you go even slower.

Bhopping with the scientists isn't an issue.

Next, it's easy to bhop now....

They made the _Special command part of the normal +jump command in SI... so all you have to do is hold down the +jump button for continous jumping. You can't miss a beat. Then you work on your movement skill, and you go flying.

Bhopping isn't an issue, it's a great feature that is friendly for newbs and adds a lot to the game now.

I HIGHLY recommend SI to anyone who enjoys HL mods.

I've always maintained that it's one of the most innovative mods around (hell, one of the earliest too) but I hated previous versions due to a dislike of deathmatch-style damage dynamics. Is it any different now, or could I still expect to see overly tough fella's running circles round me?

I think s&i is the best LOOKING mod out there. It's very clean and crisp. Looks pastel almost. I love it

so what they encourage an unfair advantage while carrying scientists?

Not really since bhopping with a scientist makes you look stupid, and speed gain is pretty much minimal because speed is capped at 150% and your max speed with a scientist is around 150. Now if you add 50% you'll see that its still slower than regular running speed (250ish)

BTW Edcrab, it might be a bit of DM still, but now there's a bit more teamwork involved in getting scientists

Hey genius, try reading the other post right up above... it answers your question.

Also, you could always *gasp* ----|TRYOUT|---- the game.

I'm not here to argue with you if bhopping is still an issue, I say it's not, and if you don't believe me and want to prove me wrong GO PLAY IT and specifically tell me what's wrong.

Which is why I think the ability to bhop should be given easily to aliens in NS.

ok I'm a mega nub I guess, because most of what I know about modern day HL comes from these forums. also, I haven't played the new S&I yet. so my question is, what exactly is bunny hopping and why is it a problem? I've never seen someone bunny hop in NS 2.0 so I assume it's either impossible, not worthwhile, or cracked down on so hard that everyone's scared to do it. It involves jumping and angling your character just right so you somehow get a burst of speed, right? Something like "skiing" (or whatever it's called, I forget) in Tribes 2? It's so taboo that I've never even seen a proper definition of it. Doesn't seem like the sort of thing that would be doable in the heat of battle so why is it even worthwhile?

I think I can agree with you here commie.

Also, in SI, you don't see everyone immediatly start to bhop... you still need cordination to get your kills, aim, and speed down correclty.

It is similar to skiing in Tribes2.

The advantage when used by decent players is clear and present.

If you were to idling on mIRC on #naturalselection, I would try to find you, I'll join a server and show you what bhopping is.

To anyone who hasn't played it yet:
It's a great mod most definately, but I was kind of disappointed as the only new things I noticed after a few hours of time were a few new models, a few new maps, and one research item added.
