I just reinstalled NS, and for some reason when ever I get into a fight my ping shoots up to like 600. But when Im just walking around my ping is always under 100! I have a cable modem, Windows XP Home Edition, Geforce 4 64mb ti4200(which I get a constant 100 fps with), 512mb DDR Ram and a Pentium 4 2.0ghz. Now by those specs I should be able to run NS godly. Now could someone pls tell me how to fix the ping spike!

BTW: My cl_rate is 9999.000

The same kind of thing happens to me. I usually have ~180 ping on US servers ~30 on UK ones, but when I get into combat, it shoots up to like 300. Thing is, this is a new occurance, it's only started recently. I'm playing NS on steam, using a 1.3ghz Athlon, WinME, 32MB Ati Radeon 7000 series (or somewhere thereabouts, I don't remember the specific), and 256mb ram, with a DSL connection. I'm not really sure WHY this started, I'm just putting it down to the holiday season and high internet traffic.

Perhaps you should turn your rate down to 7500 or so?

when i was lagging really bad on the servers, when i pulled my console up i had that stupid ex_maxerrordistance problem, if not that then i really dont know.

No, it can`t be ex_maxerrodistance in my userconfig so it can`t be that.

I think I know what the problem is. Dosen`t that in rate look a little high?
