For the billionth time this has been brought up, you don't miss the blood. In fact, I'm a firm supporter of no human blood.

NS is fun for the whole family!
*cutscene to old man playing NS*
Old Man (in Old Man southern accent): Hm, I reckon the inside of this skulk's mouth looks a lot like my dentures. Except mine ain't as sharp.

and they're even planning a new one. well, thats just...great... *sigh*

Blood and sparks are only needed to show your hitting your target, otherwise its not neccesary. I suggest noone go on a campaign to reinstate blood, as was mentioned before this has been discussed many times. All youd do is annoy ops and things.

The lack of marine blood is probably code based (marines don't give off the decals of blood), rather than a simple lack of decals.
I hope you're kidding. *sigh*
Anyway. The dev team's decision involves several points; one of those is tighter standards for games in other countries (for instance, I believe LucasArts had to remove or disable limb severing in Jedi Knight 2 for a German release). Without human blood, Natural Selection slides under most of those restrictions.
Beyond that, I play CS, SI, and even HLSP now, and I'm rather affronted by the amount of blood. NS doesn't suffer from lack of blood... I think it is benefitted by it.
As for this quote... of course people die when you shoot them with a shotgun. But they respawn a minute later, so it's ok.
>.< There's a line between fantasy and reality that most people are perfectly capable of drawing. Games are rated for target audiences just as movies are, and policing is finally getting stricter (my friend at Gamestop says they take it *very* seriously). Game manufacturers are as responsible as movie makers, IMO... parents need to stop thinking that a cathode-ray tube (translation: TV or monitor) can raise their children for them.
