Shoot at a wall, then shoot at the wall opposite or at an agle to another wall...
Make it low enough to be able to actually entangle the rine.

You can also web on the floor using the same method. Shoot on the floor (with web), then shoot again near it. A web strand will form between the two points, and depending on the floor, it's a lot harder to see than it is between walls.
Think of it as joining the dots. Each shot of web automatically links up with the last blob you fired. So, if I may steal Rampage's artwork.. :S

Never hold the button though chews through your energy and way to many nubs i see fire it like a machine gun on one spot. Oh yeh shooting webs at buildings and rines doesnt work, you need to draw lines to get rines.

- RD <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> aye, you can't web buildings, but putting web across things like the intantry portals and phase gates will cause marines to be webbed as soon as the spawn.
If you have got some marines advancing down the corridoor you can form webs through them buy shooting one side and then shooting the other side when the marines are inbetween the two. the web will form and immediately trap any marines. Shooting webs on the floor across thier feet while they are webbed will get them even more stuck, because webs "stack"
NB: In 3.0, welders will un-web any webbed marine instantly.
You can keep webbing a webbed marine, just observe wich direction he is moving and web the floor right in front of him (few marines stand still while webbed, and I think you don't need to move for the web to wear off). Do not worry too much about the length of this strand since as soon as he gets entangled the web will be deleted from the map and will not count toward the maximum. Then you can web/spit him to death, or at least cost the marines something around 5/15 res in medspam, if there is no skulk around to finish the poor human.
And if you put several strands in a doorway (not the most cost/effective thing) a marine will get entangled in just one at a time, leaving the other strands there (so there is no cumulative effect of strands in one human).
shoot webs, over the door, in this pattern. Bottom-left, top-middle, bottom-right, left-middle, right-middle, bottom-left. This will create three webs in a star-like shape that will cover the whole door. The advantage to this pattern is that it covers the whole door. The disadvantage is that it's easy to remove, either with welders or a single clumsy marine.
2. Crisscross webbing
Shoot webs on alternating sides of the door, starting at the bottom and moving upwards. This pattern is harder to remove with welders, and can catch multiple marines if you are lucky. However, if half the webs on the door are removed, a marine can bypass them by either jumping or ducking.
3. Web Mines
For web mines, choose any old place. Shoot a web glob on the floor, to the left, then to the right. Repeat between one to four times, trying to keep the line straight as possible. The end result is a single flat piece of webbing on the floor. This is very stealthy and hard to detect, however, it will only stop a single marine and if seen, can easly be welded alway. Single thick webmines can be used in sequence placed down a hallway, to slow marines down. They are also harder to see. Stacked web mines can be used to incapitate a single marine for a very long period. web mines can also be placed on ladders to stick marines.
Note that lifts and airlocks don't disturb webbing - which means you can place webs at the bottom of a lift over the shaft, and when marines come down it, they get webbed as the elevator passes through the webs.
Shoot at two points that are near eachother on a wall. A web will form inbetween those points. Make sure there is nothing inbetween the points though, or else the web wont form.
EDIT:: A good way to cover your hive with webs is purly visual. Stick webs where the marines can see em, so they take second thoughts about going in there.
The best place to web, since you have 3 hives and should have control of much of the map, is blocking the exits at Marine's base. Try a zig-zag as close as possible to marine base. Do this to both sides so they will be stuck in base and have no where to go.
Another place to the webs are in the hives to protect against late jp rushes.
No, I don't think so. I've made webs from the top of refinery to the floor. Anyone tried viaduct? <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif'><!--endemo-->
webs are like drawing a line between the two points you hit the wall at. as long as there is a strait line with no interferance between the two points, a web will be formed.
aim at the middle left and shoot and then the middle right wall and shoot. the web will form between them like one of those "string" pens (pens that let you automatically connect-the-dots by leaving a string of ink between themselves and the paper) if you want to stop shooting webs select spit or another weapon and then select web again (so you dont accidentally make a string between a two web mines or the ceiling/floor
excellent shapes are:
Triangle ( <| ) Three points Diamond/Square ( <> , [] ) Four points Waves ( W , M , N , V , Z , ^ ) Looks like a wave Bars ( ||| , = , # ) Criss-crossing web strands Crosses ( + , X ) A simplified bar pattern, VERY easy to remove Stars ( * ) Another simplified bar patern, again, VERY easy to remove Mines ( . ) Pentagons (five points) Pentagrams - most web intensive, uses 5 webs, and is semi-easy to remove
stretch and skew these shapes. make a complex "X" where the intersection is connected to the floor, and perhaps even a hour-glass shape. (to connect the intersection to the floor, it would take 6 webs to do. otherwise 4 webs)
there are lots of things you can do with webs. experiment to find what works best.

Aim the wall to you right, shoot it. Now you see a web.
That's pretty much how it goes. You can also use this for ceiling - floor, floor - wall. etc.

Grenade Launchers destroy webbing, and I would imagine Hand Grenades will too.
