Invincible Hive?

Shooting has no affect on hive.
Well I had a playtest on my map last night, has anyone ever heard or known of a problem that causes a hive to be invincible to gunfire? Nades fly right thru it, bullets go thru it. You can stand on the hive, knife it, siege it, but you cant shoot it. Anyways, its annyoying to say the least. I thought it was a server issue. But I launched from the ns.exe and set it up. Sv_cheats is set to 0, so I am confused. The only other thing I can think of is that the null brush that is tied to info_location entity, runs thru the hive (just barely clips it). Would that have an affect on it? Anyways, help on this would be greatly appreciated.

This sounds like the invincible hive bug which is entirely unrelated to mapping.

Have you tried putting mp_drawdamage on to see if the damage is registering or have you tried recompiling it again, just incase there was a fault with the compiler?

I will check to make sure drawdamage is on, but im pretty sure it is if on is default. Is there anything that might cause that because of a setting I have in the compiler? Im using nemesis's batch compiler with zoners tools (optimized version linked in these forums). Like I said you can knife it, and see the hive bleed and react to it, but bullets go right thru it Btw where is mpdrawdamage, what config file is it so I know where to look later. Thanx *edit* note, I compiled with 2.0 dlls for the playtest, but downloaded the server dll for 2.01, if I recompile will it make a difference? I read the changelog, and it mentioned an invincible hive bug in 2.0. Could that be it?

No, the .dlls will make no difference to your compile.

mp_drawdamage is a console command. Bring down the console (~) and type "mp_drawdamage 1" (Without the "'s, obviously). This isn't on by default since what it does is displays the damage you do. If you bite something as a skulk it'll put up a message saying (75.0 damage) and the like. It's handy to either test weapon damage or to see if you're actually hitting something. Doesn't work online, however, so just leave it set as 1.

Ok when we tested last night online (4 vs 4) i had something turned on in server options that showed everytime we attacked an rt, or a player, it said (whatever number) damage. I guess that is it? Well apparently they didnt see any damage being done when shooting at the hive, only when they sieged (and the hive would shake and bleed etc normally). So now I am really confused lol This is the only bug I am experiencing, and needless to say, its pretty major and I have to figure out what is causing it.

This, I think, has something to do with the hive clipping through something... I remember because the old invincible hive bug was caused by a gorge blocking the hive with himself while he built it.

Well i managed to figure out the problem. I use a custom model for the hive, and it was affecting the compile of my map. I installed the default hive models, and the problem was solved.

Was the round started? You said you had sv_cheats set to 0... so...

he said "you can siege the hive".
if he tested it alone there is no other possibility than sv_cheats is 1. or have you ever tried to build a siege with sv_cheats 0?
