im just not visiting this area of the forums.. now while some of you wont give a stuff... i been here a while now... made plenty of useful posts.. hell a few flames too... but yeah... i browse the ns custom ones daily.. i dont post in them much... cos i feel.. wip's w/e they are the creators creation.. and nothing to do with us... he is being kind enough to share it with us...and i dont feel the need to say 'make this bigger' or w/e i know it is C&C but personaly (sp) i dont do that....
but recently... going thru threads and seeing this ****... its freaking ridiculous... so yeah... this is hopefully just a small kick up the **** for all these new(ish) and some older members who need a damn good asskickin.
so yeah, please DONT flame in this thread... pretty redundant to ask that bearing in mind my topic. but yeah.. i cant be the only one sick to the death with this ? i came in may.. and signed up for this one single forum... and in the last month or less.. it has spiralled into a CS forum. ( no offence to CS'rs just generally they are stupid kiddies.)

The attitude in this forum is disgusting, to say the very least. You don't get <b>any</b> of these immature flame wars or immature morons with nothing better to do in the mapping or artwork forums. That thread you referenced literally made me feel so disappointed in this community. I thought the whole NS.org forums community was relatively mature and well-mannered, and if they weren't, they're banned. Which is why i say good riddance to Owen. I don't care what he has contributed to the community, his attitude was entirely disgraceful.
I'm not sure why, exactly, this forum seems to be a mecca for morons, some of the coolest and most impressive work in the forums stems from this forum (Sheena's work especially), but i feel that tagged along with that comes a certain arrogance and moronic attitude (Not sheena, i might add <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->).
It's got to stop really. No other forum behaves as badly as this one at all, it's bringing down the entire forums with it. Some people need to disconnect themselves from the internet until they at <b>least</b> pass puberty.
Every few months coil would make a little "be nice to each other, yo" thread. And for a little while people became a little more polite. Needless to say it all collapsed into flaming and pointlessness a few weeks later. Maybe that's why he stopped bothering.

I'm sure you've noticed, recently, there's been a significant influx of people (or kiddies, as a matter of fact) visiting the Customization Forum. They don't really visit the Mapping or the Artwork Forum, <b>because they can't get anything from whining in there</b>.
As a result, the majority of the newbies end up taking their business (in our case, 'moronic' whining) in the Customization Forum. The more 'experienced' people get annoyed, especially after the newbies repeatedly revive threads, make exceedingly simple requests, and generally act like idiots.
I'm not putting all the blame on the newbies, but I have to say that they cause more problems than people like Owen...
Well, not wanting to step too far into flaming here but I think it's the "role" of veteran posters, who have been around long enough to have some idea of what is acceptable behaviour, to Jaegar-like try to defuse potential flame wars before they get out of hand, or at the very least not add fuel to the flames.
Newbies maybe don't know better - those of us who've been around for a while ought to.
It's a good thing Nemisis shut that thread down. I was seconds away from posting something I probably would have regretted at some point. Maybe not entirely, but to some extent.
Moquiao, I'm sorry it got bad enough to send you away. I hope some day you'll come back and it'll be better than when I came back.

I'm sad that the vocal minority has stopped you from making models for NS, as I love your resource tower.
But seriously, I was looking around in the mapping forum the other day and came across a request for some map models for a custom map in the works. When someone asked why the mapper didn't ask for models here, his reply was something to the effect of "the Customization folks seem meaner than the people in here." That really embarrassed me, and it should embarrass the rest of you as well, because when one person gets his panties in a wad, people aren't going to go to that one person and say "What a jerk." They're going to look at everyone and label them all immature.
I know it's a part of the position and all, but a moderator shouldn't have to educate the forum-goers how to be polite. Please, think before you post.
I hope you'll come back some time, Moquiao, even if it's not as soon as NS3.0. I'd hate to see you go on a sad note, and I'll be looking forward to your return to the forums.

plus such threads/way of acting scare the experienced modellers away (correct me if im wrong)

Anyway, the program mentioned before, for modelling, is Milkshape3D, and you can download a free trial here.
