  Go to your config file and change these commands to the following numbers:
  
  cl_cmdrate "30"
  cl_updaterate "30"
  rate "9999"
  
  See if that makes it any better.

  I don't think it makes any difference if you key them in via console. You need to change the variables in the config files;
  
  If you're using WON: Sierra\Half-Life\ns\config.cfg
  Steam: Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\your@email\half-life\ns\config.cfg
  (cfg files can be opened with notepad)
  
  Just scroll through the list of binds/commands untill you find them.
  I had lag problems a few weeks back and this solved them, so hopefully it should work for you aswell.

  There is nothing to change there...
  The cl_'s and the rate are the same as u wrote...
