<div class="IPBDescription">First for 04!</div> Weeeee. First for 04!

Firstly I get the obligatory DVDs out of the way.

Region 4:
.hack//SIGN Volume 4
Angelic Layer Volume 1 /w Box
Last Exile Volume 1 /w Box
Martian Successor Nadesico: The Prince of Darkness
Noir Volume 6
RahXephon Volume 5
The Vision of Escaflowne Volume 3

Fairly good month.
Noir is finishing at Volume 7, so that'll be one less thing to buy...
And all I can say is thank CHRIST for Angelic Layer. It is one of the better series going at the moment. Hmmmmmm Hikaru...
The Last Exile box is quite good, it comes with a bonus limited edition figure of Alvis. So I guess it was worth the $50 it cost to buy it...

Blah, it's getting really hard to sit down and watch all this... I'm currently in the middle of Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water, as that had arrived with my other DVDs not much more than a week ago.
Speaking of Nadia, it is gradually becoming one of my more favourite visually appealling series. Without spoiling too much, I can simply say the whole Tower Of Babel mini-arc is quite simply one of my most favourite scenes visually in a series ever.

On top of Nadia and this months DVDs I still gotta watch Ranma Season 1 and Outlaw Star >_<

It's a hard life I know...

Right on the news front:

Gainax's new project Dead Leaves is actually a feature film. The style is extremely similar to FLCL's, so that should rake in those fans straight away.
I dunno what to think of this project... it's even more tripped out than FLCL, or even Noiseman Sound Insect (A rather unknown short-film. VERY weird)
That's not too say it's bad... I just haven't seen the damn thing yet... from all indications it will probably be very good.
<a href='http://www.deadleaves.jp/' target='_blank'>Dead Leaves Official Site</a>
<a href='http://www.deadleaves.jp/mov/trailer480.mov' target='_blank'>Trailer (13Mb)</a>

Oh.. and at the end of the trailer.. he's saying something along the lines of "Amazing sex!"

Samurai Champloo still retains my interest after this many months. Still can't wait to see how Samurais and hip-hop will work out.
I put my trust in Mr.Watanabe's beboping hands.
<a href='http://www.samuraichamploo.com' target='_blank'>Samurai Champloo Official Site</a>
Trailers in there. Real Media format (hiss)

Nothing new on the Appleseed front...

That's about it.
Fire away with the anime questions.

I have got the last exile vol1. I NEED MORE NARUTO

I decided to read the manga, thinking that it would sate my appetite. But I was wrong. Dear god I was wrong.

Ranma Season 1 DVD?! Damn you!

Apparently there has been a big stink over the naming of the ships in Last Exile. A lot of the whole "Fansubs > proper subs" business going on...
I'll probably notice the same thing once I get around to watching it.

    Ah yes Naruto.
They are finally getting to the really good part.
No more tournament! Prepare for an all out battle royale!
    3rd Hokage Vs Orichamaru babbbbyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

And yes, Ranma Season 1 Box. I watched the first ep just to check it out... oh yeah baby. Worth the money.
Ranma's and Robotech are about the only 2 series I can stand to watch dubbed. Mainly because that was the initial way I saw them... I am however only watching the subs this time around.

All I want to know is if anyone knows anything about <a href='http://wonderfuldays.co.kr/english/' target='_blank'>this</a> movie, which I've been wondering about ever since Penny Arcade linked to it.

Wonderful days is a alright movie really good graphics and a ok/good soundtrack. I still think its on avalible in Korean with eng subs though. Its worth seeing if thats what you are wondering. I think I remember they spent a fortune developing it.

Cant wait for the 1 hour special and also a second episode after of Naruto which they are probally fansubbing as I speak <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> Sasuke vs Garra should be good 66-67

you could stand ranma 1/2 dub? wow i've shown all my friends the dub and sub version and they tell me to turn off the dub within 2 minutes because they did such a horrible job. ranma 1/2 is easily the worse dubbed anime ive ever seen, then again it is also my favorite of all time. do your self a favor and pick up the rest of the seasons, well worth the money.

Not to change the subject, but how many episodes of NGE are there? It's just that i've now finished the DVDs my friend lent me and he's lent most of the others out to someone else, so in my impatience I sort of.......downloaded....... a few........ but anyway, I just want to know how many there are so that I know how close to the end I am. I don't want to start up the next episode and have THE END whacked in my face when I least expect it.

Also, am I the only one who prefers dubbing to subbing? As an example of why I don't like subs: On the DVD my friend lent me, a line is "You're always worrying about what other people think of you". In the badly subbed version from internetland it translates to "You're always looking at other people's faces". Riiiiight.

*edit* Just now I began to wonder just how many anime threads have been started by our good friend Infy, so I did a search and lo and behold, <b>15 pages</b> of threads, most of which were started by Infinitum. Well, it's good to have a hobby <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> *edit*

What do you think of .hack//SIGN Vol.4? I heard from friends it wasnt that bad.

EDIT: Do you have an official count on anime DVDs now Infy? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Majin: No...

Gadzuko: About every fansub group under the sun has released the movie. It has yet to be licensed.

Kayomani: The episode just aired. Give it a day or so for the fansubs to start heading out.

[2iD]EriC[LdR]: Yeah I can tolerate it, but now that I have the DVDs I don't need too. I will eventually pick up the rest of the seasons.

Nil_IQ: 26 episodes in Evangelion. There are 8 DVDs for the TV series. 2 seperate DVDs for both movies and finally 2 DVDs for the 'Director's Cut' version of episodes 20-26.

XeroSlayer: I have yet to watch it. I'm waiting until I have all the DVDs before I watch .hack//SIGN. My official DVD count is close to 380 something.

    There we go -_-

Well a quick count of my boxsets puts it at 41. Though I deem anything that comes with a coverslip as a box... or large collections in a small case a boxset...

I know the following are on loan
    - Super Dimensional Fortress Macross Boxes 1-3
    - Trigun Boxset
    - The Vision of Escaflowne Boxset
    - Hunter X Hunter Boxes 3-4

So yeah... in total 48 boxes.

I'm not sure what DVD it came with, but a friend of mine ripped the new Koukaku Kidoutai 2 "Innocence" trailers for me, and they are DAMN GORGEOUS. We may start circulating a subtitled version of it, if there isn't one floating around already.

Almost makes me want to see it more than Appleseed the Movie.

    Almost.

As for Evangelion: There's technically 26 episodes.

1-24 are the "standard" TV series. From there, you can go to two different endings: 25-26, the "TV ending", or you can go to the "Movie Ending", which would are considered the OAV versions of 25-26; it's in two movies, although technically in 3 parts (Death, Rebirth, and "Magokoro, Kimi ni"). There's also a third movie called Revival, but don't bother with it. There's nothing new.

Gadzuko: "Wonderful Days" is indeed a Korean movie. I was looking forward to it, but once I actually saw it I was terribly disappointed. But it's not bad, I guess.

Nil_IQ: That really depends on a) who does the subtitling and b) what they have to work with. I translate myself, and a lot of the time I have to change the literal meanings, either to get a point across, or to fit the text on the screen, or for whatever reason. Then there's companies like MANGA Ent., which is known to make up stuff as they go along when they can't figure out how to translate something.

Inf: I actually do have a question for you. Is there any news on when a Stand Alone Complex DVD boxset will be released? It's probably the only domestic anime I ever intend to buy, but I've yet to see any news regarding a release.

    I just did a check, and I own... 0 anime dvds <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Athena: I do know that Bandai Entertainment currently hold the Region 1 license for GitS:SAC, and that announcement was made in July of last year. As of yet, they have yet to announce a release date for volume 1.
It should do the whole 'volume 1 with box' thing. It is pretty damn popular.

There are currently 2 Innocence trailers available that have already been subbed.

Here they are in torrent form:
    <a href='http://www.thehawks.org/hawks/bt/' target='_blank'>http://www.thehawks.org/hawks/bt/</a>[haWks]ghost_in_the_shell_2_-_innocence[xvid_promo].avi.torrent
    <a href='http://www.thehawks.org/hawks/bt/' target='_blank'>http://www.thehawks.org/hawks/bt/</a>[haWks-DisTrO]Ghost_in_the_Shell_-_Innocence_Trailer_(ExtendedHQ)[Kotonoha].avi.torrent

    Rightioooooooooo time for the boxsets.

For the sake of my sanity I didn't get all the digipacks out... digipacks are the small releases with a coverslip on them...

I saw it not too long ago. Didn't really like it. Total over-reliance on CG. And I don't mean CG with anime-type textures, like Metropolis: I mean pure CG. It was too CG to be good anime, too anime to be good CG, too aimless to be engaging for the plot and just not cool enough to be good just for the coolness.
