Try any one of the zillions of tutorial sites that exist to help people get started with mapping.

Most of us are glad that it is not possible to edit the bsp file. I wouldn't want to see my map modified without my permission.

If you use quark it is possible to move entites around in the map, apparently.

Same, I'm also fed up of the crap that is being posted on the mapping forum like this, there should be a "Do's" and "Don'ts" list of what to say. Oh and don't forget that this "n00b" question should be on the newbie forum (Sorry If I sound harsh, I remember esuna's thread a while back with people posting crap like this here, instead of the newbie forum).

To be honest, a decompiled map would require stupid amounts of work to get it to compile again. Infact, it'd need to be entirely retextured and probably rebuilt from the ground up. No noob will be able to do that.

Very few people rip-off other's work. It's not that common, as a matter of fact, it's pretty damn rare.
