(it's an engine btw o_O)

Spotted this at <a href='http://www.poke646.com' target='_blank'>Poke646</a>'s site. It's pretty much a good overall renderer, I ran through that one map for a while. What really humored me was the custom HL content being on there. Imagine the possibilities with NS >_>

The independent side of the gaming community keeps getting bigger and more innovative while the corporate is becoming the exact opposite.

Wow, I wonder how much you would have yo patch into that to get NS working, how compleate are the hitboxes? would you have to create your own wallwalk code? how tight is the physics code?

obviously it is visually capable of everything the HL engine is.

Yeah they do, but there's no denying the shadows. And you can still see it yourself with the demo.

NO NO not for NS , when i shot it was just a luttle blue bulb that attached to the wall.. i think if you were gonna mod it, it would need SERIOUS changing, but as it was when i started , i thought it was horrible

dude, those last 2 lines made less sens then most of my posts do (and thats saying sometihng)

(I havn't actualy D/Led it yet so I don't know what it looks like in game)

however it sounds like your complaing about gphx. All that requires is new gphx and all is set...

    Good thing it's a <b>demo</b>.

Anyway the point of a MOD is to actually change stuff, I don't think they'd keep that part the same. The sprites weren't any worse than what HL has to offer. I'm sure this engine can easily churn out a more superior particle system than HL anyway, if coded right and stuff.

Guys, if you read the site, he says that he is just a one-man team, and admits to sucking at art. Hence why he contacting people to get permission to use their weapons / art in the game.

And as to the engine being free, it's only free if you're making a mod, to create a retail game from it, it still requires a licensing fee.

ok, well its a good free engine

but i really dont think NS should ever go to it, ok, it can be touched up and made to look awesome, but we already have that on the HL engine :/

    would be a waste

It doesn't have nearly as many features as HL, but that shadows do look impressive. <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->

That's not how an engine works. You pretty much have to build your application from the ground up to suit the engine. Very little carries over directly between engines. Textures, maybe models, and that's about it.

I know, Im just saying I wonder how in depth the hitboxes are, and how the physics on the engine are handled. The first part of that post should have read "I wonder how much work it would take to get it working as good a the HL engine does"

In that case: far more than it's worth.
