<div class="IPBDescription">Finished Model</div> First of all I have to say that i probably lied to you all two times in my last thread "Deepeyes Helmet".
1st I said that it would be my last model before moving on to 3ds... well as the model in this thread is made in ms3d that wasnt true <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
2nd I promissed that I would finish the helmet but the way it looks now that wont happen.. maybe later...

Anyway.. this is the model of I rifle concept I drew a couple of days ago.
The beast consists of 5858 polys.
30 sided cylinders etc. adds a lot of them.

Concept

C&C is welcome.

Very nice...I like the grip, and the handel, though realistically (heh oops i said the R word) the clip may be a bit too far back for fast pace reloading. wouldn't mind seeing your animations for an actual ingame model though...

that is one hell of a sweet model only problem is the polys but i bet you can cut that down alot with optimizing and stuff

I could probably loose a acouple of hundreds just by replacing the cylinders with 12 sided instead of 30.
Theres also lots of other detail that I could cut down without anyone really noticing it.
however I wont do that unless I know someone is willing to give it a shot meshing it.

No its not.. Maybe it looks like it but I have no idea cuz I have never played Plantside.
Plz dont start to post pics of it in the thread.. I know how to find it myself.

Could you tell me how to make the little grooves on the handle using ms3d? I still cant figure out how.

Lets drop it and return to topic shall we?

it would be nice if atleastone of my topics would stay to the subject.. and Spetsnaz.. Yes there is a chance cuz im going to design pistol, sniperrifle, machinegun, combatrifle, knife, grenades, granadelauncher, soldiers, and enviroment for a story im working on. (probably 2 different weapons of each sort to) Hwver it will probably take some time if I am going to model all of them.

great concept Notthinham, but as you know i don't like the round triggerguard

    oh and Drake, where's the handle on yours? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Something is missing from underneath the foregrip that's in the concept sketch. I thought it looked better with it. Also, don't add the grooves on the foregrip, that's pretty wasteful. For example, when people make an M4 then don't model the grooves on the barrel. There is a lot of optimization that can be done, but overall a very good job.

I know the grooves are poly waste if your going to make a game model but as my work never gets meshed and skined I decided to make the grooves so you can se that they should be there. the "grip" under the grip i left out on purpose but im going to model it later on to see how it looks with it.

Never get UV mapped? That's pessimistic, unless you just don't want them to be used in games. If you released the mesh, I might work on it in my spare time. I've already done a couple, heck, I did burn's XM8 twice.

I will model the thig you mentioned and optimize it a bit then I will release the model... ms3d or 3ds?

Doesn't matter. Don't fuss over smoothing groups yet. They might be lost.

The sketch didn't do the final product justice.

    Very nicely done.

The magazine could be given a little more room behind it. Lengthening the stock a little and maybe moving the mag a little more forward would do it all the way for me, I think, but that's just my personal taste.

By moving it forward, the reload anim [in theory, seeing as it'd probably not get done] could just be the hand moving back to press the release with the back of the thumb, the mag falls out, hand goes down for new mag, comes back, slaps it in.

Something like that. Plenty of room for moving it forward, I think.
