It Installs... But Yet It Doesn't...

Hey forum people... I just recently leaned about NS, and I've read all about it on the main page, and it seems REALLY fun.
I bought CS retail a while back, but, when I download the NS installer, and install it to my HL directory, but when it finishes, it brings up the window with a "dedicated server" link as the closest thing to launching the game (The other options are a manual, some online pages, slideshow, and that's it I think). But when I click the decated sever icon, it runs a search for the files... indicating I'm attempting to access something that's not on my computer.
Also, when I select the option to place a desktop shorcut, it does not.
I would just like 2 things, if possible
1) Am I installing it the right way? it doesn't seem like I am.
2) Can anyone give me a step-by-step, or at least some info on how to install it by means of CS Retail?

For WON Download from here:

For steam go to the same page but find where it says the NS 2.0 Steam Beta and go there do download
close all other programs (specialy virus scanners)
Now you install it into your CS Dir (gona be something like: C:/games/sierra/CS/)
or your steam dir: (C:/games/steam/steamapps/youremailaddy/counterstrike or halflife)
Now if you are ussing WON still (bad you) just start up CSr and go to internet games and tell it to filter for NS
if ussing steamgo to games and in thirdparty games tere will be NS, launch it and do a server search.

And, seeing as though I shouldn't make a new thread... Can someone give me a website address that tells me how to play the game in-depth> Or is that something I'll just have to learn by playing?
