<div class="IPBDescription">Sure this has been asked just can't find</div>I honestly tried a search, and I dont remember anything in the FAQ or at the RR but it seems like such an obvious topic that it must have been mentioned before.
Anyway, is the commander's LOS like in normal RTS where you see whatever your units and buildings see, or can the commander see the whole map or what?

you see the entire map (there is no fog of war), but the only time aliens appear to the commander is when a marine on ground can see them. but like in warcraft2, the sounds play regardless, so if there is a noisy builder in the room you are looking down on, you can hear.
Also, due to the way the HL engine works, moving entities such as elevators are also updated. Meaning, you can tell when anyone uses an elevator...

I know the observatory even gives motion detection for a certain radius...
(Can he see what a marine COULD see if he turned around)
WTHK?

No clue, about the acronym, but no, it won't work like that, thankfully. Though wallhacking in this game is a bit... *shrug* pointless, due to the fact that once you get motion tracking, you can see aliens through walls anywho.
I don't like the sound of that. The commander can see all moving aliens within a radius of marines anyway can't he/she? Does this require a motion tracking upgrade?
I would prefer that all aliens within LOS of a marine's head should be visible to the commander. I guess not knowing if an alien is directly behind a marine is pretty much a moot point, as that marine is most likely a meaty snack.
