Any Tips On How To Fly The Lerk Now?

I'm sure that the PTs and Vets have mastered flying the lerk, with the new 3.0 model. However, I simply can't seem to get off of the ground - it's like gravity is pulling at me. When I do become airborne, I constantly have to flap wings, else I plunge to the ground again.
So I'm reduced to walking, being some sort of slower more-armored Skulk.
any tips?

Glide. A lot. You should be gliding almost the whole time. Once you realise that, the rest will most likely come naturally.
Dying a lot? Don't stop. Don't get greedy and take more than one bite, just bite once and keep going. Speed is life. If you use this tactic, focus gets a lot better than it would otherwise be. If you have the energy, spore them as you're flying in and you may well kill them in 1 hit.
Celerity is really good at the moment: your flight speed increases dramatically.
Adrenaline is also pretty good at the moment because flapping costs fairly significant energy. You can still fly without it but it's harder to do that and spore too.
As for practising flying....I suggest starting a LAN game of co_pulse and practise flying through the map. If you get if right you can fly to and from MS more than 5 times. sv_cheats must be set to 1 btw.
EDIT : I see that you're actually having trouble getting off the ground....no worries, just aim a little bit higher and you should be good to go.
You pansies with your celerity and adren. You dont need either of those if you have silence. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Sorry, just struck me as funny.
Everyone has already said how to do it, so I just thought I'd add in a couple more things and a little bit of flight style <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->
First thing, if you fall a bit (while holding forward) and then hit space, it gives you more speed.
Second thing, try aiming up, flapping once, gliding a little, letting go, falling a little, and then flap and glide again, and keep repeating. I found that when I did this it made me feel quite stylish, and go quickly. It also makes you bob up and down, which makes you harder to be hit, yet you don't loose speed doing it, so it's good.
Another important thing with lerk, if you're doing fly by's, is to aim at them really quickly and bite as you go by, if you take too long, your lerk flight will get messed up and you'll be trying to fly into them and you'll loose alot of speed and it will just be bad.
also flapping from a high up place and aiming down and then gliding along the ground gains you a bit more speed due to the falling part.
edit: oh, evo already got the last point.

Correction.
You don't need Silence if you're glide obsessed. I used to always take Silence in 1.04, and now we have a much better glide you can just use that for most of your flying, meaning 99% of the time the marine never hears me until the first bite.
its not hard... just unlearn what you have learned.
the new lerk is 100% different from 2.01 in flight and in how it should be played

Because in ns maps you can only take one of them.
Once you start to glide a lot, you gain back the adren you spent flapping between wingbeats anyway, so Adren is more useful to Umbra/Spore Lerks who will follow Fades for support.
what i do is:
bind mwheelup and down to +jump
and space to +jump
what u can do is first use your mwheel to fly/accelerate and then hold your space to glide/fly
and wenn u slow down simply let go of space use your mwheel to accelerate again and there you go.. so no more wacking your space button <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::lerk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/lerk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='lerk.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Focus is only great for Lerks until Armour 1, at which point I drop it for SoF. The more practise I get, the easier I'm finding a double-swoop-bite anyway. Oh, and regen/cara is just a matter of preference really.
The second lerk is more useful and lives longer, the first one is more fun.
