Client Thingie Differs From Server

omg its been working great up till last night when the message saying"your client.dll or whatever differs from server" and i was wondering how am i supposed to go around fixing it. Or do I need to reinstall?

Im getting the same thing. It was working this morning. Then i noticed that Beta2 was out so i got it. and Now its still giving me that my client.dll differs from the server when i have yet to touch anything in the nsp folder. So whats up with it?

Find the svencoop thread in here, and use the fixes in there..

Its caused by a newer version of fmod.dll, which means you cant play ns2

Either that or you need to update to beta2

or it could b the server you r trying to connected to is not a beta2 server :o

yeah but i allready got the new beta that just came out. Man i was really looking foward to playing NS combat this whole weekend lol

edit: no the servers i tried were all random when i entered ns combat beta. When i had before the latest patch joined a couple of servers it said i needed a new dll. so i reinstalled it. again same problem. So then i found the new one that just came out, tried again and again bad client dll.

figured out the problem. For some reason on mine and my brothers computer it didnt work. So what i did was i installed it to the desktop. And copyed pasted all the files into where they should go like the cldll copyed it into the one in my steam and same with everything else with the other files. I suppose it was a problem with installer. So it now works on my brothers computer so now i will try on me, keep ya updated.

edit: well i didnt do it directly to desktop. Now im putting it into a cusom folder in my c:\

edit edit: well we have lift off, it works, so im just going to assume it was a problem with the installer. Oh well of to be combat gorge and see how beta 2 is catch you all later.

I have this problem it was working fine but now it is not. I have tried reinstalling but it hasn't worked. I only have Counter Strike and NS 3.0 installed. I'll the desktop idea. Any other ideas though?

The majority of the problems concerning dll error messages are due to a borked install. When you install the v3.0 beta 2 patch it MUST go into your email folder, NOT the half life one.

Hmm, I seem to be having this problem as well. Have been using beta 3 fine for last few days and all of a sudden am getting the error message about dll not matching. I have also had a message sayin my map.bsp doesn't match.

Have tried reinstall but it don't seem to help.

it occurs when you have diff versions of the mod. I got it when i installed the patch last night and i tried to get on a server running beta1. go on to a beta2 server and it will be fine.

Your getting this because not all of the servers have upgraded yet. Even if youve reintalled Beta1, you will still get it on server that are running beta2 <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif' />

And don't forget that there are still some servers running beta 1, if you've installed beta 2 properly, you'll get the same error from these servers.

Had the same problem, now downloading beta 2. Seems servers that were working this morning arn't now.

For anyone with a similar problem, use the gamespot link. No signing up and most reliable.

What i did when a map differs from servers is.

Mycomputer>C:>Programfiles>Steam>SteamApps>blahblah@hotmail.com>Halflife>Nsp>Maps<
Now delete the map that differs. And the server you join will download the map that will work.
Or you can also do that with client dll's. Note: If you delete the client dll some servers may not let you download.
Or what i do install Ns into a different folder and take the dll and replace it with other and it will work.
