I played a top level game last night.......no one went fade...at all. Fades rule in combat where you can take heavys with them...in classic id say they are a little bit of a deathtrap and really just not that useful.
Fades are really weak in the new beta. Acid rocket was only 50 damage, and it moved way too slow to hit any moving targets. Now, they halved it. WHY? It and the gorge are the only long-range structure-damaging classes for the aliens, and it took forever to kill a building, now it will be impossible to take out a turret. And you can't run up to a building and kill anything now. A fade, or even an Onos, that engages a turret to take it out, ends up getting destroyed or redeemed by two LMG 'rines on the side. But you try to kill one marine, you die from other marine and turret, if you can even run around the turret and structures to get to your target and even hit him.
I think fades were given a just nerfing, they still kick **** in groups, I wasnt aware they were 60 res though, I coudl have sworn it hasnt cost me that in the very few ns gams ive managed to get.
Fades play a lot like they did in 2.01, albeit at a slightly higher cost.
With a better metabolize, I think that you'll still see Fades. In most of the games I've played, the top scorers are almost always Fades. Even in late-game combat matches, Fades still give marines a beatdown and seem to be the next best thing to Lerks in fighting JPs.
Acid rocket is still a joke, but with blink/swipe/blink/meta, the impact is lessened.
Acid rockets are really rubbish now... does only 25 damage. Thats less than 3 parasites. The only advantage is they use less adrenaline than before, but still fire at the same rate so you never run out with adren. But then it takes about 8 rockets to kill a marine with a couple of armour upgrades.

I must say I have not tried fade alot yes. I think its useless in combat and I have trouble finding desent dedicated NS3 classic servers, especially where I do not need to be gorge to ensure a good start/middle game.
combat is owned by lerks and skulks anywayz. unless rines get HA happy.
Fades own in combat, but in classic, they are a bit weak. For those who say fades are weak probably don't know how to be a good fade.
First off, fades are not tanks, thats the job of the onos. 2nd, fade is best for hit and run, like lerks. Get a good fade and umbra, and you can own HA like nothing. Even w/o umbra, you should be able to kill a ramboing HA, unless the HA is really good. Then again, a really good LMG can kill a fade etc etc.
Basically with fade, you Hit, blink around while the poor nub rine wastes his ammo trying to hit u, hit him again, blink, hit, blink, hit.
Tip for rines, don't go blind shooting, your just wasting your ammo and setting yourself up
