imo i think I just saw the worlds worst half time show... even the lip synching is done crappy. Were they just trying to make it better then it was by simply tossing in a whole bunch or celebs?

What do you have against Hip-Hop? Kid Rock ruined the show with his rock bawitdaba crap.
Janet Jackson is a legent and P-Diddy is a respectable buisness man. What would you have liked Metalica and Ozzy?

lol yea i asked what Kid rock was doing there as well If you read my first post...
no i would not have liked it any better if it was metallica or whoever. It just seemed like a bunch of songs all mishmahsed together.. I just think they could have done better.
You have to realize that they only have a matter of a few minutes to put on that preformance and get all of the stage equipment on and off the field. So they can not really have a show with full songs and what not.
Now the one a few years ago with Aerosmith Nelly Justin Timberlake Brittany Spears and whoever else was good because they all preformed the same song and coordenated it really well.
AH HA! So im not the only one who saw that!
and no FLuffy i wasnt insulting thw hip hop artists i just dont like it when they try to smush so much content into something so small. it can be done right but it just felt like they tried to accomplish to much stuff in that short time.
Maybe it would have been better if they didnt have so many peeps.

I think everyone who watched the half-time show saw that.
I am disapointed in the actions of these singers. Of course, the inpromptu flashing. If it was pay-per-view...maybe. But its live public television, and everyone, including children were watching. If I want to see some breasts, I'd either, a) rent a porno, or b) get my g/f. That was totally uncalled for. I also am disapointed in Kid Rock and the wearing of an actual flag. Kinda shows disrespect to the flag and what it stands for. Heh, and my dad, a army vet, Coastie Reservist, and gov't employee, was outraged. I had to calm him down a bit...
These people are rolemodels. They really need to act it.
gg immaturity
Yeah, he gets business done. Otherwise he shoots up a nightclub! Uh oh!
That was the only reason I used to even watch the super bowl, they've been degraded now too?!
The last superbowl I watched (few years ago), the only part I remember are a bunch of the commercials, most of them being Pepsi commercials.
Yes, definatly staged.
Still think it was immature...
Apparently they decided that if they played all the songs that were popular for about 3 weeks then never heard of again(Getting hot in here? comon now, and the kid rock song? that was popular when I was in 5th grade) that would make it "hip". Seriously though, they tried to appeal to people who use AOL who are mainly 10-14 year olds, instead of the people who actually watch the super bowl. I was thoroughly dissapointed if you couldn't already tell.
In advance I apologize to anyone that will get mad by this, Im just saying my thoughts.

Then again the earlierr superbowl when Bono From U2 (who does lots of charity stuff)
had the US Flag in his jacket during his preformance and whipped that out when he was singing with the whole list of 9/11 victims names scrolling behind him, everyone thought that was ok and they all cheered.
SO I guess it jsut depends on "how you wear it".
NeverMind i saw the word "Actual" my bad

It was MTV.
Yes, they were definitely old songs. Several were from several albums back - I don't know why they were chosen.
The flashing incident was not officially planned. I heard that Janet Jackson hadn't shown up for her rehearsal: it would appear that Justin (and only Justin) was in on this charade.
soo, where does your GF live?
hehe

I ussed to watch it
then again it was basicaly an exuse for abunch of us to go stay at one of our friends houses and watch the comercials. however:
1) I aint in HS anymore so that aint that important now:P
2) The commercial just get worse and worse ;(
Im telling you, its all going to hell. NFL not allowing superbowl parties, pre-planned "accidents", crappy horrible music, I would honestly be surprised if they didnt start turning the games themselves into wrestling matches with the players talking smack and getting into wimpy fake fights.
Even last year's halftime show was better, Gwen Steffani wasnt hard on the eyes at all. And while I might hate pop music with a passion, Just a Girl is admittedly a very catchy tune. And it actually has some deeper meaning, as strange as it feels to say that...
Surprise of the century! The whole thing was just lame, it was just like Britney Spears and Madonna kissing.
TenSix, the old No Doubt is not pop, it's ska. Only their latest album has shards of pop music.
anyone noticing the more and more digitally painted in advertizments that they project onto the footbal field. This is happening all over sports.
annoying.
Even when its not on comercials, there are commericals.

They sound like a pop band to me. So meh.
**Exclusive**
Top CBS executives approved a musical skit where Janet Jackson would expose her breast during the MTV-produced Super Bowl half-time concert, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
"The decision to go forward went to the very top of the network," a well-placed source explained from New York.
The groundbreaking scene came during the most-watched television broadcast of the year -- and during the dinner hour for the nation's west coast viewers.
Officially, CBS drew distance from the show: "CBS deeply regrets the incident that occurred during the Super Bowl halftime show," the network said in a release. "We attended all rehearsals throughout the week and there was no indication that any such thing would happen. The moment did not conform to CBS broadcast standards and we would like to apologize to anyone who was offended."
In a press release before Sunday's game, CBS's sister outlet [VIACOM's] MTV promised "Janet's Shocking Moments."
"I'll get you naked by the end of this song," sang performer Justin Timberlake, moments before he ripped off Jackson's top, exposing a bare breast -- the nipple covered by a tassel.
CBS's main New York switchboard was immediately bombarded with complaints about the stunt, network sources said late Sunday.
The NFL claimed outrage over the stunt:
Statement by NFL Executive Vice President Joe Browne regarding the Super Bowl halftime show: "We were extremely disappointed by elements of the MTV-produced Halftime show. They were totally inconsistent with assurances our office was given about the show. It's unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime."

That you are all in a severe fit because the Super Bowl, which openly advertises as being the commercially biggest annual sports event on the planet, is succumbing to commercialism
This saddens me. Is this really how hip-hop is seen nowadays? I've grown up with hiphop, and I've never been afraid to look into new artists. I rarely ever listen to any artists on MTV (maybe except for OutKast and Gang Starr ). Not necessarily because I don't like popular artists, but because the best artists are independent, unsigned or signed to smaller labels that actually allow them to have some artistic freedom.
It saddens me, especially because 2003 was a fantastic year for hip hop. Little Brother - the listening, Vakill - the darkest cloud, Brother Ali - shadows on the sun, Danger Mouse & Jemini - Ghetto Pop Life, Murs - the end of the beginning, C-Rayz Walz - ravipops, Lyrics Born - later that day, Diverse - One A.M., cunninglynguists - southernunderground, Hieroglyphics - Full Circle, Del Tha Funky Homosapien - Future Development, Rjd2 - The Horror EP, DJ Format - Music for the Mature B-boy (which once again proves that British hiphop is on the same level as american), MF Doom's 3 or 4 (!) excellent albums, and many MANY more. The list of amazing, almost classic, albums is endless. But none of these have received any exposure at all. Vakill's album, which was one of last year's best in my opinion, is already out of print since so few people bought it.
That's what you get for letting MTV into a once glorious culture.
I'll say one thing about the halftime show, though. Thank god for the articifial grass!
You Americans are weird.
