Steam has been updated! It contains major and minor fixes, additions and changes to Steam platform, Server Browser, Friends Network and Games. See the change list below:
STEAM PLATFORM:
- Steam now uses much less system resources. Almost 50% less.
- Steam loads way faster now, in approximately 2 seconds.
- Steam not able to create desktop shortcuts to Games and mods fixed.
- No more need to restart Steam when changing skins.
- Total support for freeform skins à lá Winamp 3/5
- Total support for approved third-party plug-ins like MP3 Players, Web Browsers, Multimedia Players, Screenshot Managers, Server Browsers, Chat and Messaging apps, etc, etc, etc...
- Offline/Lan support finally available. Now you can use Steam and play Lan/SP games without the need of an internet connection.
- Added more options to Steam Monitor, like bandwith limit options, schedule options, more accurate statistics, added feature to save logs, monthly, weekly and daily stats (like the stats on the website but more accurate), Content Server stats, Content Server choosing, etc...
- A bunch of improvements and bugfixes to the Steam Network. Now it should be faster and more stable.
SERVER BROWSER
- Added custom filters.
- Added country filters.
- Favorites not deleting servers fixed.
FRIENDS NETWORK
- Added support for personal avatars.
- Custom away messages.
- Added voice-communication.
- Logs.
- User-Groups à lá MSN.
- Re-added E-Mail to User Details.
- Added E-Mail send feature.
- Added irc-style Memos.
- Minor improvements to the network.
GAME ENGINE
- Completely reworked Transparent Textures Rendering and Particle System. They should be WAY FASTER now.
- Added full support for Hardware Transform and Lighting to the engine. Now the engine will use less cpu resources and more features from the graphic cards that use it.
<b>- Added a lite version of Havok Engine to the engine. Modders will be nuts with this. Say goodbye to unrealistic weapon and player physics, say hello to Ragdolls and real ballistics! :^) </b>
- A bunch of minor improvements and bugfixes.
GAMES LIST
<b>- Added Blue-Shift, Gunman Chronicles, Sven Coop and Natural Selection to the Games List.</b>
- Added option to download the High-Definition Pack.
- Modders now can put an icon on their mods in the Third-Party Games List.
- Third-Party Games loading screen now have the proper game name.
- Half-Life 2 Media re-added with old and new videos
Counter-Strike
- Added LAN Games.
- Re-added the Official CS Bot.
- Dual-Elites are now more accurate and deadly.
- PARA MG is now more accurate and deadly.
- Decreased Auto-Sniper accuracy a bit.
- Increased price of AWM/P Sniper Rifle to $ 5100.
- Added hud_radar_opaque 0/1 cvar. This cvar switch the radar oppacity On or Off.
- Bullpup and Krieg 552 zoomed crosshair will be switched to the cassic expandable green croshair.
- Added Ragdoll physics to all player models. No more dead bodies clipping problems!
- Added realistic weapon physics to all weapons. Weapons will now fall more realistically and grenades will be thrown and will bounce and fall more reallistically too. Say goodbye too wacky grenade physics!
- Added physically simulated map models like crates, chairs, tables, etc to all maps.
- Balance fixes to all maps.
- Fixed hitboxes to all models including Riot Shield. Now they are more accurate and real.
- Added physically simulated bullet impacts to the Riot Shield.
- HE Grenades take more damage now.
- Added 5 second Hear Buzzing when a flashbang explode near to you.
- Added different scope sprite for each sniper rifle.
- Added material particles for bullet impacts.
- Added particle smoke for HE Grenade.
- Added cl_particlefx 0/1 cvar. It switch Particle FX On or Off (it obviously do not work for Smoke Grenades)
- Re-added r_viewmodel 0/1 and obviously won't for Riot Shield.
- High-Calibre weapons like Sniper Rifles, PARA MG and Assault Rifles will take damage to the Riot Shield. Damage stats are:
× Sniper Rifles: 50 HP
× PARA MG: 30 HP
× Assault Rifles: 20 HP
All the other weapons won't take any damage to the shield.
- Added swing for sniper scopes.
- Added cl and sv_ragdoll 0/1 cvars to switch between Ragdoll Physics or the classic death animations.
- Added mp_physics 0/1 cvar to switch On or Off the world physics.
- Rebinded secondary functions of M4A1, Glock, USP Tactical, Bullpup and Krieg 552 to 3rd mouse button.
- Added melee attack for all weapons -except Snipers- as a secondary attack function.
- A bunch of minor bugfixes and network improvements.
Day of Defeat
- Added LAN Games.
- Added all revamped classic maps from b1.3 and b3.1.
- Added dod_falaise, dod_campagne, dod_crossroads (old dod_cr44) and dod_railroad.
- Increased Garand and K43 accuracy to K98/Einfield levels.
- Changed wallshooting to b3.1 levels.
- Lower r_speeds for all maps.
- Fixed cl_fog 2.
- Re-added bleeding and bandaging from b3.1.
- Thompson model and sounds changed to a more realistic ones.
- A tad less accuracy for all rifles when walking or strafing.
- Slower accuracy recovery when stoping moving for all rifles.
- Limited sniper walking for 3 steps.
- Less for snipers when walking or strafing.
- Way less accuracy for MG-42 when standing or moving. No more MG-42 rambos!
- Changed BAR deploying animation to match with the real deploying time.
- A little less recoil for the BAR and Bren Gun.
- Changed STG44 recoil to BAR and Bren levels.
- Pistols are all now equal to damage, speed and recoil.
- Added knife/shovel throwing as a secondary function.
- Added buttsmack to K43.
- Added Ragdoll physics to all player models. No more dead bodies clipping problems!
- Added realistic weapon physics to all weapons. Weapons will now fall more realistically and grenades will be thrown and will bounce and fall more reallistically too.

Remember, almost everything I wrote at bottom it's only things that I want for Steam and its Games. Only certain things will be real, like the offline support, CS weapon changes for dual elites, para, AUG and Krieg zoomed crosshair and opaque radar and DoD changes like the old maps (hopefully!). - Added knife/shovel throwing as a secondary function.

Remember, almost everything I wrote at bottom it's only things that I want for Steam and its Games. Only certain things will be real, like the offline support, CS weapon changes for dual elites, para, AUG and Krieg zoomed crosshair and opaque radar and DoD changes like the old maps (hopefully!). Btw, NS is going to use the Havok physics in the game?
edit: oh wait its a fake post, **** in the steam forum with too much free time on his hands got me all excited
some people are scared to go onto the steam boards....
If all of these were implemented I would probably start liking steam.
