just wait an pray for half-life 2. It has a really cool object heirarchy which will allow you to connect things and parent them to other things. You can have spinning brushes on train, breakable glass on rotating brushes. Theoretically you could create a robotic arm through a heirarchy like this. I can't wait.

Although S of HL is open source, so if the devs really wanted they could probably include it...

It is possible in HL, if you download Spirit of Half-Life. This adds (among other things) a MovesWith property for every entity, so you can for example make a button move along with an elevator, or a mounted gun move along a car, or even breakable glass in a train. It also has lots of new entities, like env_rain and such. This won't be possible in NS though, since you need the spirit dll. Although S of HL is open source, so if the devs really wanted they could probably include it...
