Suggested Gameplay Mode

<div class="IPBDescription">more dramatic gameplay</div> I was wondering if anyone liked the sound of this idea, I have been thinking of a "survival" mode of gameplay. In this game mode I was thinking that there should be the two teams again, but there will b a littl twist. There will be no CC, the rines will start out with full ammo and a random assortment of weapons, and they have to survive for a given ammount of time untill evac arives. Once evac arives, the rines have to get to a certain area in order to be safe, its sort of like hide and seek. There should be some things to make this expirience better,
1) Random evac areas
2) Aliens should get res slower (so that they don't turret farm all the areas)

The marine goal is to hide (or stick together and fight) until evac arrives, the alien goal is to make sure no marine gets evacuated. It should be pretty intense action <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif' /><!--endemo--> since there will be waves upon waves of aliens and the rines will have to either be very stealthy or have good aim <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> I'm also thinking that the aliens shouldn't be able to get sensory until their second hive is up (since pheremones will ruin the whole game). What do you think of this new form of gameplay?

    Well, this is indeed not S&I, but i do like that idea, i've heard of it before.

    I'll think of that too, and think up a better version of this, i believe i can.

    I never said it was a perfect idea, but could you please point out to me as to how it's flawed? I think it would be good bcause it would increase team-work because there is a greater will to survive (since the rines can't respawn). And if let's say, no one wants to play as aliens on this map? It could jsut be a coop map against alien bots (fairly smart bots, not the retarded bunny hopper kind). Well untill you show considerable evidence as to how this is flawed I don't really see how your opinion matters in this topic.

    Marines would be destroyed, it wouldn't even be a competition. Even if they could fight off endless skulks, as soon as someone Lerks it's game over.

    What if there's a res slowdown, for instance not allowing aliens to build or jsut slowing down the res gain in general? The goals wouldn't be that hard to achieve considering the rines try to avoid combat, and nothing gets your adrenaline pumping like hear a skulks claws clattering against the while you hide in a vent with your fingers crossed.

    Actually... maybe they could impliment this into the classic style of the gme, for instance, once the CC is dead the rines are hopeless, right? Well, what if there's a certain timer and a certain place for the rines to reach until time runs out? Like escape pods or something like that, now some of you might be saying "then why shouldn't the aliens get that as well?" Well, I think they shouldn't since once the hive is dead, and if that health ticker goes away and an onos jsut has to reach an area, it will take an army of rines to stop him, and if there's two onos, then you can't possibly stop them. I jsut think that the rines should still have a chance to make it a draw after their entire base has been completely anihilated.

    interesting idea....
    but it can't be just like that - marines run to the exit and then its a draw... that would be somehow... hm... unfair.....     But somehow I get a great feeling of this Idea. But I think it's hard to make it make sense in the game

    Completely decimating the marine team and then just ending in a draw because one of them managed to slip past you to the escape pods or whatever would be incredibly annoying and wouldn't really serve any meaningful purpose. If the marines lose the RTS game , it shouldn't turn into hide and seek(more than it already does that is), they should simply lose.

    Besides, the marines are there in the first place to eliminate the aliens from the premises, not just survive. If they don't kill the aliens, they've lost. Story-wise, they could simply leave any time they wanted to.

    Zek, your right about the aliens losing their hard work, but I'm not saying that they can instantly reach the escape pod, I'm saying that it might take 3 mins for the escape pods to become active and then they have to run half way across the map to make it to the pods before they blast off. Story wise, I guess they lost the battle, but if some manage to escape, they cna regroup and make a counter-attack. Anyway, I see where your coming from and your right, the aliens would put a lot of work in destroying the base, but I'm jsut saying that for instance after the CC dies, everyone doesn't go "ok, games over!" and instead they still try to hold up till they escape. Remember, I never said it was a perfect idea... yet, but it might be a cooler way to end a game rather then just everyone giving up once the CC dies. If you think thats unfair as well, then we can have destructible escape pods (only once their active). I'm fairly sure that the NS team is probably busy, and I'm not saying that they have to get it done, I was just thinking of ways of making the ending more interesting.

    a similar or variation of this mode could be that a group (the whole team) of rines start off with no cc, at ms, a few 'civilian' turrets and a stash of ammo. these models will have to be different because they are not the tsa, they are the leet civilians <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->. anywho the kharra would generally try to attack in waves to win a short game or build rts and stuff to prepare for a long game. then the tsa arrive, after 2 mins or something and drop a cc, tf, turrets, armoury, ips, all the usual stuff. they have 300 res to spend and need to do an objective, eg rescuing a scientist stuck in a room, or planting a bomb to blow the spaceship. the kharra try to stop this, and win the usual way.

    the balance here is that the kharra get a time advantage while the marines get all their buildings instantly later on (ha, jp researched, lvl2 weps, armour). sounds interesting?

    I like the idea, but it may be very difficult to implant, indeed.

    The Marines would just relocate to that spot right away, every time. If they did not... the Kharaa would just build an endless Field of OCs there... It would need multiple areas, and marines could only use the one farthest away.

    That's sort of what I was reffering to in my innitial post, since the game would be made more objective and tactical, rines should also have ways of barricading doors with welders, and it will take a gorges health spray twice the time to un-barricade it. Rines might also get abandoned outposts, like a bunch onf turrets that have been turned off, and an unfinished tf waiting to turn on the turret, it would really seem more like a fight for survival rather then
    "who can get the msot res first!!!!"
