Yes, NS is compatible with CS retail. You will be able to download a dummy file at some point that will make you able to play NS with CS.

copy your cs.exe to hl.exe (this is the dummy file the installer requires).

hopefully the full version won't have this sillyness in it.

Before elitebear edited his post, he didn't understand what I was saying and therefore wanted someone else to answer <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->

Down with CS retail! Down with the device that enables thousands of able gamers to IGNORE the possibility of the existence of other HL mods!

What? No, it's not true. I gave my CS retail away! No! I'm sorry! Don't make me go back there! Aaah!

fact: every single mod that works with half-life will work with CS retail. you just have to tinker a little bit in some cases.

Yeah DOOManiac, but most of the csers are so ignorant that don´t know how to do it..... =)
I really don´t understand why people buys cs retail......You can buy hl and have 999999999 games in 1 withouth having to create files or other stuff =)

because they want to support the mod teams hard work? A lot of people bought it for this very reason, and I say more power to them.

Yes, CS isn't just a game. It used to be a MOD. Like it or hate it, it is responsible for half the mods out there, and going retail gave everyone something to shoot for. And something to beat.

A lot of ppl buy cs retail because they dont wanna wait for their sucky 56k connection to download it.  Or they don't realize you can download it.

Just to clear this up, the full version of NS works just fine with CS retail. It will detect CS Retail during the install and create the necessary config changes to make it work just like HL Retail. You will not need any dummy files.

This makes me laugh really hard. Someone handed money over for CS. Just buy bargin bin halflife, and you get a pile of games. Shelling out 20 bucks for CS makes me think that only AOL uses might do something that stupid.

This thread has a lot of rotten attitudes and passive-aggressiveness.  These forums don't exist to keep record of everyone's precise feelings so don't feel like you need to record your every sigh and disappointment.

Post nice or not at all.
