I'm sorry but Woo?

UT2004 is 2003 with all the stuff that should have been thrown in before.

Oh that and UT2003 was a huge peice of bloatware that was fun for about 2 days.

I agree, so I'm getting 2 days of fun.

edit: actually the first one kept me interested for all of an hour or two. Never bought it. I'm willing to give it a second shot though.

Definitely trying this out tonight - looks to be pretty awesome. They even included the kickass convoy map.

because at first, unreal 2k3 was supposed to be compatible with 2k4 (meaning unreal 2k3 people could connect to 2k4 servers) but that was later dropped. So theres no point in developing for 2k3 since 2k4 will make it dead in the water.

6-7 kb/s at peak it reached 18.
now at 15... dropping again..
edit: I might add that I'm uploading faster than downloading, much faster. What are they doing with the network around here, I sometimes wonder

Don't know what to say there Gwahir, my connection to the torrent shoots from 40 to 100 then sometimes 20. Its the best I have so far....maybe wait a bit til the demand for it isn't that high.

eh well, first time I've ever used BT, don't know what performance is normally would be like. Figured I might as well for this since the file is hardly controversial.

Thats a crappy excuse. Porting a mod from UT2003 to UT2004 is gonna be as easy as a recompile (and maybe some UI changes). Hell, Dr.Sin (developer) got Red Orchestra (mod) working on UT2004 in a few hours. A whole team should have a mod up and running perfectly within a day or three.

Anywho, im eager to take this demo for a spin too. Unfortunatly this torrent is horribly slow, and I have no idea why. When they did the test torrent, people were hitting 200k/s, no problem. But all i'm getting from this stupid thing is 25-50 right now. Argh!
Oh well, i'm almost done anyways. No point in starting the download all over again from somewhere else.

That doesn't make sense to me. The team stopped developing the mod for a game whose content is easily portable to the next game?

Also, you got it slightly wrong. UT2k4 players were originally going to have the ability to connect to 2k3 servers running maps from 2k3.

That wasn't the only reason Opera stopped development for 2k3. A whole laundry list of things that they couldn't do or couldn't do well with UnrealEd and mod tools was the underlying reason, I believe.

well it seems that everyone on grounds has started downloading something, I'm in line at file planet, we'll see how that goes. Otherwise I'll just start it tomorrow morning.

otto, what speed are you getting off that link. I started over 100 but quickly dropped to 25 myself. Just trying to see where my bottleneck is.

~raises an eyebrow~

what limitations are we talking gad? As far as I could tell from my lil tinkerings the Unreal engine (UT2k3 build) is pretty flexible and more than capable of easily replicating what they managed in HL and way, way beyond =o

Also, while I still have a deep distrust of anything UEd, one has to say that the Unreal Warfare engines modular system pretty much negates the issue of engine-sided restrictions.

Realistically, I'd say the Redeemed Assassins use this list as a front because it'd seem a tad embarassing to admit on their frontpage that the current team is just not capable of getting its act together.

I've gotta say, the game is great. However, the servers I've been able to connect to, just plain suck. They list as 80(ping) but everyone ingame has around 350. :\
I'm betting that good servers won't be too far away, and they'll be even better in the full version. Can't wait to try out all the Onslaught and Assault maps.

Ok, so does anyone have anything to actually say about how 2004 plays? You know, from experience?

Varsity, could you expand on that, perhaps?

They can only improve the game, not your horrible taste, so no, you probably won't like it.

Not correct. While they can't connect, you CAN make games that are compatable with both. So basically, they royally f***ed up.

And either way- if you send in your proof of purchase for 2003, you get a free $10 rebate if you send it in with your 2004 one(they have 2, I believe).

And I loved 2k3, so mnyeh!
