What does everyone else think? and is this even possable?
I'm not quite sure why you would want this, but it's possible. Check out <a href='http://www.modns.org/forums/' target='_blank'>modns.org</a> and look for "ServerOps" (metamod) or "Admin Icons" (amx) - both these plugins allow the admin to control who gets icons and of which type.

Yes or no would have been an acceptable answer. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> It's rude to call people stupid too, but yet you still did it.
If the server itself isn't running C-D, there's no way for it to know you are or aren't, unless it just takes the input that you send and trusts it implicitly. But seeing as you could be sending <i>anything</i>, that'd be just asking for a compromised server, to be honest.

I play on non-CD servers out of the frustration of having to download a 3rd party app just to play on a server. Regardless I actually have more fun on servers that don't require CD whatsoever than those that require it optionally.
Call me crazy, but I find that there are a lot more people that "seem" to be cheating on the optional CD servers than those with no protection whatsoever. It goes to make me wonder if CD actually works with any relative effectiveness compared to the ability of hackers/cheaters to compromise its protection.
Then again I also play on servers that are very well administrated so I find that to be infinitely better as anti-cheat measures go than using another piece of software to try and protect the first piece of software.

The optional ones change everyone's name, it's ugly. The required ones put an ugly icon.
It doesn't seem to really do much, and considering I can't even get it to work with steam...
I avoid them. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> The new version works fine with steam, just leave it running in the background.
Oh, and using CD on a non-CD required server is useless. CD needs to communicate with the CD server to operate.

As for C-D being ineffective, it stops those cheaters with no own knowledge of coding, who have downloaded their 'hacks'. Ineffective? No, because 99% of the cheaters out there fall into that category.
The term 'hacker' being applied to a cheater is completely incorrect.
