well, i'm such a noob with it. anyway, i was wondering about the magic wand tool. isn't it suppose to select the WHOLE outline of an image you want? like say if i just want to select a dog and cut+paste it into another picture leaving eveything else out of the original picture. when i try, all it does is selects little sections here and there. not the whole subject that i want. what am i doing wrong?

ya doign nothing wrong, the wand tool selects a particular section you click on.. you click on the orange, itll select the orange until it breaks.. if the opacity of the wand tool is at 100, it will select everything instead of certain things. the only way to select a dog and cut and past is to use the lasoo tool and trace around it.. ,,,,,,, im sure psp 7 has a lasso tool...

the wand is to merly select a certain pixel colour etc. it wont actually outline the dog you want to select like you would think it to. its not smart enough <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

actually, there is a much better way to do it. its called masks. look on the bottom of your tools and find an icon that looks like a circle in a square. lcick that. now take the paint brush on any size, larger if your photo is large, then small for the edges. when you paint it wil be pink, color everything you DONT want to be selected. so color in the background. now, after you do this, click the icon to the left of the little circle you clicked to put it in mask mode. this will put it back to normal, with a dotted line around the border. select the "select" menu at top and click inverse. now crtl+ c or copy and you can paste it into what you want. note : the eraser tool works in amsk mode too. so if your arm gets wild, go back and erase the pink!

You could always copy the picture, and erase everything around the object in the image, so it's just blank around the object. Then select the Marquee Tool, and hit Ctrl+A.
