Well...unlike most people I started out playing TFC, after getting decently good at the game, I needed something else to play. That's when I needed some type of Teamplay orientated gameplay...and CS definitely wasn't providing it...So I searched the web, eventually finding this wonderful mod, it was in its early days, I found it around April following it's initial release in October. I hadn't joined the forums until later last week because I always had bad experiences with people on forums (flames and all that crap) But now, after reading the forums, I've found out the Community I play NS with is a bunch of cool people and I continue to enjoy that thought and play NS to this very day

and for my last note (completely off topic) SUPER RULES!!

Heading to TFC Gamefaqs boards. Noticed the new game. Read some forum posts. Promtply downloaded. Needless to say, my copy of TFC is getting a little dusty.

Well at the time I played CS (still do along with TFC). Someone told me about NS on a forum and I downloaded it. This was around v1.04. I've been playing ever since then.

Read an article about it on planethalflife.com. Played it since release date, been playing since. Uncle showed me Half-Life at the fire station back in 1999? Been playing since 1999, played TFC (on a P166MHZ PC) between 2000-2001 before I got my new computer (Jan 2002) and started Counter-Strike until I got bored of all the whining and stupid gameplay so I tried NS, been playing since. =/

I either read a preview about it in PC Gamer (but that might have been for Savage a LONG while ago), or i read it on the Jarhedz forums. Got it at about 9am in the morning after it had been released (GMT and it was a hard day, heh, wasn't waiting up that long). Got onto Jarhedz server, did some stupid things, got shouted at by Joev a lot and ran off scared. Olie finally convinced me to come back at... 1.01 or something, been playing pretty constatntly since about 3 weeks ago when i got Galaxies and that took over my life really.

Was told about the game the day it was released, joined and downloaded on halloween. Been in the clan scene since 1.04 and have been playing in my clan for ~ a year till I took a break. Now I just occasionally read the forums while I school it up.

Funnily enough I was looking for Half-Life reviews on GameFaqs and saw all these mods. I read the reviews and downloaded those who piqued my interest, namely S&I NS and CS. I liked 2 of the 3, guess which one I didn't like.

A few years ago i went to a friend's house and he was playing half-lfie:oppsoing force. I thought it was a good game so i bought it. Then I decided to get the original half-life game. About a year latter i got a new computer with more hard-drive space, i could now download more mods. I got counter-strike, because i heard about it from friends and it sounded fun, but my computer was using a 56k modem, so i coulden't really play. Later i got a cable modem which opened up a new world of gamming for me . i was searching for costum counter-strike maps when i read about cs 1.6. i downloaded steam and started playing. I was reading the steam forums to figure out how to fix glithes with steam, when i found natural-selection. i read about the game and decided i like it so i downloaded it.

cause and effect........

It was the night before finals in December 2003, and I was online procrstinating like crazy not wanting to study. I think I was on fileplanet when I saw the link to download ns. I first checked out NS.org then decided to download it. The rest is history.

Also, I started playing tfc back in 2000 and played it till it became no challenge. NS is great because it is always changing and their are always new challenges.

I found out about ns in one of my favourite pc magazines. it was on the disk so i installed it and had a go in lan. I found it pretty boring at first(I wad running around by my self, thats what i do with mods so i can get used to it) At this time i was on 56k so i didn't play on line.(THe version was 1.03 back then btw) The next month i got cable and 1.04 was out. So i played online all day, i was hooked. Loved it from the first moment pure teamwork. I signed up on the forum and here iam.

The first time I played NS I was at a LAN party. As I was walking back to my computer after a raid on the soda cooler, I was struck by the rather odd image on another gamer's machine - his view was framed by a massive set of teeth. I watched for a few minutes before he noticed me, then he called me over. I sat down, and for the next 10 minutes he answered my questions while he played. Then I grabbed my laptop, set up shop next to him, and we went on a three-hour fragfest. (Admittedly he was doing most of the fragging)

I found out about it while downloading DoD from www.ausgamers.com The news flash said something about "Scary and fun" so I downloaded it on. Been playing since late October 2002 but didn't sign up at the forums until I wanted to know more about 2.0's release.

Saw some pictures of NS_Bast on PHL, er, I dunno, a year or so before 1.0. The shot of the readyroom with the steam looking at the join rooms is what made me click and read up some.

Then I met Monse, and well, he's learned quicker and ran away already

I really liked the NS concept. so i downloaded and playd it the first day 1.0 became public.
One month later i joined a clan, but it died after the CL turned inactive.
i returned to my CS clan.

I was reading some techie/business website about the mod "industry" and how sucessful games like CS, DoD and ET had been and then suddenly there was a quote from a mod creator I had heard nothing about, I followed the link and started downloading right away, then I started reading up about what the mod was. I was amazed! how could anyone make a strategy game out of the half life engine, well I havn't left ns since

Hmm. Ages ago. A mate said it was great - told me a million stories of amazing achievements and horrible deaths and blah blah blah blah. Well anyway i downloaded it a while after - even tho he said it would be awful on 56k. How wrong he was

June 2001, PHL had a two-lines blurb about this strange new mod and how their site had been updated with a little bit of background fiction. I clicked, read a very early draft of the Kharaas backstory (not that the name 'Kharaa' had been invented back then), made a post on the forums, got a very, very polite reply from Flayra, and kinda stuck around.

Hmm, a few years ago (I think.. it was a long time ago, anyways), I was playing TFC. The map was flagrun. I was talking to my friend EyE-OpS, who I hadn't seen in a while. As I was running out of the red flag room, he said 'hey, I've been playing NS lately.. you should try it, it's a lot of fun. natural-selection.org'. And so I tried it.

A friend of mine who frequented lans told me that many of his friends were talking about a new mod called Natural Selection (1.0) for Halflife (which I had bought to play the singleplayer earlier). RTS games had always been my thing, where fps(especially CS) were not really my thing. I was very very good at fps in general, however - loved splinter cell and other strategic games (which came out later).

When I started playing, my first game was marines, and I joned about half way through. My first vivid memory was following everyone else accross this confusing map, into this room where we all recieved HA (which turned out to be cargo storage near fusion hive) and then into a hive which we promptly took down. I was on a modem connection at the time.

Soon after playing commander, it quickly become my favorite role. It took me a while to master the art of burst firing required to be an effective marine, and took me ages to master the skulk. I was also gorge alot in those days.

Now, I pride myself in being a fast - acting commander (ask for health and you get it almost instantly via hotkeys and have to work hard not to let NS rule my life. I am 21, have a fulltime programing job, and live with my Girlfriend of 3 years.

NS is an amazing mod. As an aspiring games programmer, I would describe Flayra as a role model for me

Heaps of kudos all
