(just so the rest of us know NOT to do some stupid <span style='color:orange'>ooh, another one to add to the swear filter!</span> like that!)

    There are a number of website-based games (if you can even call them games) which tell you to get friends to click on "your" link to increase your forces/army/legions/militant penguin batallions or whatnot. By attracting people to "your" link, you're serving as the advertising force to bring more players in. Some of these systems even have rules against spamming your link in forums or IRC, but our stance is that such links shouldn't be spammed regardless of the host site's ruleset.

    Some longer-standing members who were unaware of the rule have posted similar threads in off-topic, and if they at least explain what the link is and why they're trying to lure people into clicking it, I've let it slide with just a lock instead of a ban or tempsuspension. But if someone makes an account just to spam such a link, there's no reason to keep them around.
    Of course, if they want to start over again by making a new account, new name, and new attitude of posting stuff actually relevant to these boards, it's not like I'm going to try actively checking if they were 1eraser1 in a "previous life."
