You wouldn't so happen to be XtremeFear from the [On|E] community would you? If you are then "Hi!" it's Hitman here. [On|E] is already a Veteran clan just incase you didn't notice Or do you intend to start a clan of your own?
Seeing as it means absoultly nothing now since it was opened up to everyone and their mother, donate and get a constellation icon instead. At least that shows you support the game and community.
It's really unfair as several clans who I know are truely dedicated and scrim 3-4 times a night (compared to the 4 times a week required for veteran status...) haven't gotten their vet status, while clans named :::::======---DYSIFYCOAS---=====:::::::: get to have a cute little icon that (for the moment) means absolutely nothing in the ways of dedication and skill, and get to stick their nose up as high as it frigging goes on pub servers. I hope that some time in the future, the vet program can be reorganized, removing inactive clans and awarding active ones.
well see, the clan i am in, SpyderS, scrim all the time, and practice, and help in beta testing and looking for bugs, even though we are not considered beta testers.. and such. we want to help in many ways, and if we got vet status, we could help even more...

Veteran status dosn't entitle you to earlier builds or anything, not anymore.
First of all, the clan community is very small. If there's a real, active clan, people know you. I can list off the top of my head 20 or so clans I know that are actually highly active. That's a very small list to the hundreds you can find in CS. What happened with the vet program, was that either due to laziness or just naive (sp) trust, tons of clans that probably have never scrimmed in their life got the icon, and the build.
BTW, what's your definition of "all the time" anyway? I idle findnsscrim 12/7, and I have logs dating back 2 months. I did a search. Did spyders show up? no. Personally, I don't think clans who scrim even 5 times a week deserve veteran status. If you can't scrim more then once a day, you are probably not very dedicated, and chances are you will fall inactive. Veteran status should be granted to truly active clans, not clans that play pub together and "schedule" scrims.

On topic though, it isn't really worth it now, because like what ThE HeRo said, there are some nub clans who register and wel....I think there's too many of them and well....
Anyway, with the beta going public, there's no additional benefits anymore apart from the nifty icon you get next to your name, but I think the vet program is closed

Just remove all 'new' vets, fire up a tourney after some more beta's and give icons to the top-10 clans.

I understand to a small degree its use in lieu of a private beta, but then I also view that the private beta should be given to the consties only and not vets (disclosure policy: I am neither a constie nor a vet). To that end, I'm not even sure the value of having ingame icons at all except in the case of server admins and game developers. Even then its questionable. Why not just get rid of all the fuss and hassle and simply get rid of most of the icon classes and disband altogether the vet program and any other program that bascially adds no needed form or function to the game or community.
Dedicated clanners shouldn't really need to have an icon by their name to let everyone know how good or dedicated they are.... that's what participation and success at well known competitions will do for you. Any decent news site dedicated to a single game (and sometimes multiple games) will post results of the larger competitions out there. And if you aren't good enough to qualify for those competitions, then join the crowd of the other thousand or so clans that could really care less for the recognition. Being in a clan (at least for me) is a goal in and of itself... it is a bunch of guys (and girls) that I am very close to and enjoy playing with (ingame and IRL), who play a multitude of games, and are generally dedicated to gaming in general and its communities and communities values (disclosure policy: my clan readily participates in politics on the local, state, national, and international level). We generally could care less about being the best at any one game... that's just laughable and I pity the soul who strives for that.
Vet program used to be 3 guys from each of the top 10 clans on a list made by NS Archives to test 1.1 ( later renamed 2.0). It was expanded to 10 members from each clan later on. After the 2.0 release and the final 2.01 patch out, work on 3.0 went on while a few clans were added to the vet program (ir, envy/exigent, evil, dn, oss(?)). Later on, consties were allowed to beta test and after the announcement of the ATI tourny, the vet program was expanded to allow any clan to betatest 3.0 so as to not be at a disadvantage where the tourny took place( AFAIK, it was supposed to happen at the release of 3.0 to the public). That's why everyone has a vet icon. Used to be only the good and active clans, now its just a clan the applied at the right time.

Ran across one veteran player in a random pub, he was both the worst skulk I have ever seen and the worst example of sportsmanship as well.
Im tired and angsty today, but the veteran program needs quality control.
but the sportmanship thing, he should lose it :\
