isn't that the balls?
or am I being silly again? (need sleep)
oh, and add weights if you like........
wow, just remebered a realy fun one: Ankle weights. My friend ussed them and now swears that they will do wonders for stuff like jumping and running.
Just get a pair and wear them all the time (durring the normal day and then when you work out)
I apologize for my horible typing errors atm, as I said I am going to sleep now <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Whenever you walk, pretend you're wearing invisible high heels. Meaning use the balls of your feet / front half of your feet only. If you're too self-conscious, at least try to remember to do it when in private.
This will eventually have the same effect as those unreasonably expensive training shoes -- the ones advertised to boost your sprinting, jumping, etc. The ones shaped like platform shoes with the rear half mising and the front half angled in such a way that your foot is on a diagonal the same way as if you had high heels.
Sooner or later the muscles involved in lifting your heel off the ground will become accustomed to supporting the weight of your entire body.
Do whatever works for the rest of your legs, but don't neglect the things your body is planted to the ground with.
[edit]From the posts made while I was typing, it looks like a lot of people are paying attention to the heels. Use whatever combination of methods you're comfortable with.
or just tape a peice of wood around the front of your shoe (dosn't have to be wood). Then, naturally, you will only use the front of your foot to balance your weight....I think you can actually buy shoes for this stuff.
Hah, I can jump about 10 - 15 cm higher then the others in my class. Don't know how.. But it makes me pretty cool <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
this combined with your height thread lead me to believe you want to be a baller. is this true? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Yup. I want to make the varsity in my 2nd (future) college.
I just had a game of 3 on 3 with the neighborhood guys tonight (4 of them are college varsity players, and one of them is the 2nd place champion of <b>NikeFreestyle</b>!! <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo--> ). Of course they won, but it was a very close match! I scored a couple of baskets myself, and it felt really good scoring against these 'pros'. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

[NSA]SIL3NT-DE4TH,
The guy I played against tonight (the one that won the 2nd place in NikeFreestyle) is only 5'6, and he can dunk!
Well...I have to do these every day in wieghtroom, and they indeed suck. They are called depth jumps. Stand strait up, feet somewhat close together. Then suddenly drop, like a frog would, your butt almost touching the ground with your knees bending outward, then explode strait up.
Do 1x50 each day, when your over the weekends, do 2x50 each day
Silent death-I have been in the weightroom training program for about 7-8 years now. Do NOT use ankle weights, no matter what. They mess up your entire body with extended use. It starts with ankle pain, then legs, then goes to the lower back, then the entire back. Just dont use them, they are horrid. If you want to run with weight (heh...if you can my way) take a 100lb plate, (with about a 2 inch rising edge on it so you can grip) hold it near your chest, and walk as fast as you can for 50 yards. This is similar to what IronMen do. Dont drop it on yourself.
They have to be done 50 times a day, thats easy for begining weightroomers. Actually, its good to overwork a muscle group, but you have to be sure when to stop and rest for a few days. What works for me is that I ice my legs, getting an icebag, putting it in a bath, and getting cold water in it. It chases away some of the acid that eats away at your muscles (but not all of it, just enough not to make you extremely sore the next day) We do this all the time during 3-a days in football.
*edit* when your doing depth jumps, extend your arms upward to the sky.
All right. Time to get an experts review on this. Now obviously the ankle weight and various techniques work quite well in order to improve leg strenght. However, as any girl would tell you, you also require ankle strenght, the best way to do this, as odd as it might sound is with high heels. Don't believe me, try wearing the modest 2 inch heels let alone the 5 inch stelletos. After about 2 hours most girls have difficulty standing straight due to ankle soreness. Also it will improve your balance and running efficently by teaching you to walk on the balls of your feet compared to normal flat footed. I would suggest a combination of the high heels with alternating the ankle weights and thos fun little leg excersizes spoke of earlier.

u just need to look for a mid sized area, fix your view on a point on the floor where you want to perform a really high jump. go back a few steps. and run to that point.. jump.. and on the highest point of your jump aim down and fire your rocketlauncher...

I suggest that you do a set of wind sprints as part of your daily exercise routine. They are excellent at building and training the muscles used in jumping. Strength is only one part of high jumping. Speed is the key.

squat + toe rising thingys?
toe rising thingys:
stand flat footed, go up all the way on the balls of your feet, come down, repeat.
You mean the heel or the toes?
