Comm Help

Ive commed before and done fairly good but im looking to boost my NS game now as i finally knuckle down after transferring from cs.
Is there a way to bind a button for med/ammo without having to actually be in the build menu section?

Ive found the hotkey's for

Basic build menu hotkey86
Advanced build menu hotkey87
Equip menu hotkey88

Health hotkey59
Ammo hotkey60

Is it possible to just bind hotkey88; hotkey59?
So in theory i enter the build menu section and hit the type of build i want in one go?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated, including any other command's commanders have binded that sometime's appears rather life saving.

I haven't found a way to do so, but sticking a bunch of wait;s in there might do the trick. I just use the default commander hotkeys that you can set up in options.

    qwer
    asdf
    zxcv

is the default. Those correspond to the menus on the bottom right. So to get to a medpack you hit e-s and click with your mouse on the target.

Just press e once, and press S, click, S, click, S, click, repeat to medspam.

I play with headphones on, and I share a computer lab with my roommates, and get some pretty strange looks when I'm medspamming (s-click-s-click at the speed of light! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo--> )

By setting up binds to impulses/hotkeys you're probably doing things the hard way... just use the built in commander shortcuts, they'll probably be more responsive. You're never more than two keyboard keys away from any particular command (if you have your troops and buildings in squads). Advice: if nothing else, always put your observatory in a squad - helps a great deal when you're observing a battle and need to ping.

I find that in pubs, you might as well use the "almighty waypoint of whole team" as you usually only get a few there anyway...spare the rest for an armslab and two obs'.

binding medspam is overkill IMO, since the qwerasdfzxcv combo already works nice once you memorize it...

After posting this ive sat down and memorised all the hotkeys and your right Geronimo, the hotkey's already defined are a much better way of doing things than creating a whole bind to do one thing.

Thanks for all ur help people

oh, be sure to make your ob(s) and arms lab(s) in group keys for quicker acsess to upgrading and scanning

also when you drop, ammo/meds, drop it infront of where thier walking to. like 2-5 feet infront of them. that way they A: see. B: dont have waste 2-5 seconds waiting for a medpack to drop right on top of them

I tried the same approach and I cant get it to work. If it is possible (lets not debate whether or not its effective) please post how you are doing it (how many waits or extra commands etc.)

I like to use the F keys for it and it would be really nice to just be able to push one key to select then drop. This way I can use the asd keys for my other binds.

Also I know there is an impulse for select all but is there an impulse to select the comm chair? I know thats a wierd request but it helps to bring the map centered at the base. right now I select the chair and make a group bound to my 1 key and that works but it would be nice to make a bind so I dont have to redo it every map.

    Thanks for any help.

This sort of thing is bound to the impulse so that you can't make a script that would automatically drop 10 medpacks or whatever. So as you've found you just have to use the existing menu keys or a combination of impulse keys.
