<div class="IPBDescription">how much is your life ruled by it?</div> interesting poll at <a href='http://cgi.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.asp' target='_blank'>gamefaqs</a> today... I thought I was in the minority of excessive spam victims, especially among those of us smart enough to know not to put your e-mail address in any suspicious web forms, etc... but apparently more than half of us get more spam than real mail, and about 1/4 of have our boxes filled with more than 90% spam...

I kept my email address clean for about 4 years... the spam bots or whatever only found me a couple months ago, but boy did they find me... there's no way to escape them short of changing your address, right? <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I get more spam than "real" email, but thats because I have no friends. =( Even so tho I get very little spam. I used to get more but around a month or two ago it started becoming less. Dunno why.

    Welcome to the group friend....

    I had a serious spam problem before I got this e-mail. In one day, the spams would fill my Hotmail acount to maximum, and then, I'd delete them, and the next day, there they were again!

    So, I had to change my e-mail, which was a pain. I had to tell all my friends I changed it, which was the easy part. I then had to change my settings everywhere.

    I get roughly 500 spam mails every day on 2 email addresses.

    Do i care?

    (Just to compare, i get about 2 emails that i actually read)

    Well, I used to get my hotmail-account pumped to the limit, but now that I have turned their anti-spam thingy on, I haven't had more than one or two spammails in months. Sounds like a weird commercial, I know, but it would seem microsoft got something right.

    I've gotten into the routine of deleting spam in my Hotmail + Yahoo accounts.
    I get (roughly) 20 spam emails a day, which doesn't sound like much but
    it quickly mounts up.

    It's usually about ten or so spam emails for me a day. Nothing big, and they're not hard to delete. What really frustrates me are the subject lines that could very well mean a real letter, but from someone I don't know. Which means I have to open them to make sure, and boom, advertisement.

    Yeah same here. I mean I never ever ever got a drop of spam, then all of a sudden I'm getting one every week or so.. Then two, then it goes up to about one a day and wham, now I get 10 within a 12 hour period.

    It doesn't help that MY ISP SELLS THEIR FRIGGIN USER LIST TO SPAMMERS...

    Oh and last week I thought I'd try this program called "SPAM Killer" that's rated #1 on CNet's Downloads... It worked for 1 day, then stopped working, and now all of a sudden I get TWICE as many spams as I did before using the thing!

    I used to get lots per day (like 20) but it seems to have reduced itself to about 4 per day. It's odd.     When I use to use AOL (note: 5 years ago) I would incredible amounts of spam. I use Yahoo now and am yet to get a single spam mail. Go figure.
