Sometimes, seemingly at random, the entire screen turns black. This has happened for me on both marines and aliens. Certain sprites like the captions to marine orders and alien hivesight are still visible, sometimes other hud sprites like health and ammo are visible too, occasionally parts of the view as well. It will stay black for 5 or 10 seconds then go back to normal. It doesn't happen very often, but once it happens once it continues happening over and over until I quit NS and restart.

Slayer.. you DON'T have the same problem, please read the description before bouncing in on a thread that dosn't releate to your problem....
If oyu aint reinforcing then my guess is thet for some reason a +command is stuck down.
Make an alias that consists of all the -commands and press if it this ever happens.
IT would look something like this:
Alias minus "-foward; -back; -left; -right; -attack; -jump; -crouch; etc etc"
bind x minus
I am not going into my config atm to pull out all of said commands but you can do that.
In addition to the black screen bug I've also been trying to reduce my ping. I'm on a shared cable line and sometimes it's high and sometimes it's low. So I connected to a server to test some things a got off a site (tweak3d I think) that said they could improve my ping. I got the black screen bug again but I ignored it since I wasn't playing just testing some different config settings. After adding/changing a bunch of different settings the screen suddenly starting shaking. Like the whole map was moving 16 units back and forth 100 times a second while I was sitting still. It was painful to look at. Also, I could see through walls while it was shaking, like gl_wireframe 2 but fully rendered. This was confusing because things right in front of me became invisible. Then suddenly it stopped. I waited a little bit and it happened again. I realized that because some of the settings I changed were to improve fps in the hope that would bring down pings, it was changing how HL was rendering things and so instead of going completely black when the black screen bug happened it was freaking out instead. I quit NS and reverted the config to make it stop hurting my eyes. I hope there is some fix for this though, it's annoying either ways. Though maybe some setting might let me see normally, I'll have to experiment or something tommorrow.
