<div class="IPBDescription">NS, CS, half-life crash within 5 minutes</div> Specs:
1.8 Barton 2500+
512 DDR 333
Windows XP
ATI Radeon 9800Pro 128MB, latest drivers from ati site

Have tried reinstalling steam twice now... No go.

Within a few minutes of playing my computer will COMPLETELY FREEZE and requires a hard reboot.

Sometimes it freezes before I even connect to a server (with NS splash screen in the background)

My cpu idles at 40C and doesn't go high enough during play to warrent that being a problem.

Also, I can run BF1942 and Desert Combat with nearly maxxed quality and have no problems.

Any help appreciated, I am bout to give up. It plays on my laptop fine (1.6 pentium M, XP, radeon mobile 9000) but I hate gaming on laptops.

sounds like its your vid card, you need to make sure its installed properly. and try different drivers as well.

I used the original drivers from the install cd that came with the 9800Pro

Then tried the newest catalyst ones from ATI. Niether work...

Anyone else with a 9800pro with the same problem?
