    Looks dope!

One of the peeves in maps (not that I could do any better, mind) is an excessive overuse of colored lighting. I'm not saying it's a bad thing altogether, I'm just saying it gets used wayyy to often instead of...

the lighting I see here <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->. Looks very pretty, and also very atmospheric (i.e., spooky). Keep it up, man!

    wow, nice!!

about the colored lighting, yeah.  I liked how you put color into the scene without using colored lighting.  keep it like that!1 pwnage!

The placement of those computers does not look attractice, make it in between two of those vertical borders. The coputers altogether on the main wall are well, to be nice; ugly! Really small too! Go for a nice colourful lighted computer to bring at the atmosphere of the room! Maybe even some steam off of that machine that the player is on top of, making it look overused/overheated, thats if r_speeds permit it. Overall nice.

Looking good as usual, I really like the fog and the slight blue tint.  Any chance of posting a bunch of different angles of this room, so we can get a better idea of how the room is laid out?  Right now it's a bit unclear how the marine got on top of the structure he's on, or what is purpose is.

That shot was taken from a unnatural angle, I was trying to give an overview of the room.  Here's another angle from one of the doorways.

I like it, tho I think the long hallway of cryo tubes was spookier IMO

Yeah, I agree, keep the coloured lighting for the amusement parks - and make NS maps a place of solemn TERROR!...

    or something like that <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

Angel, I heartily disagree with your comments. I see nothing wrong with the size/placement of the computers, rather I think it adds to the room by making it more complex without looking cluttered. Why does he need to add a big computer terminal? I see no necessity for one ATM.

@ChromeAngel: The fog looks purty, too <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->. Just about the right density for the intended effect, I'd say.

Agreed, though they -might- be a tad tall on the wall. Run around in thirdperson and stand next to one to see. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

-maybe- a subtle blueish glow off the monitors... Keep it out if it doesn't fit, but it worked wonders for some of the areas in Eclipse... Might try it. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

Tashty. I love it when things hide everyone just enough to make it tense. Specially if you round a corner and theres some sort of alien building and it scares the crap out of you because you were sure nothing was there. But I'm rambling, nice job!

For added coolness, why not have masses of pipes connecting the ceiling pods and the center of the cryotrays?

The monitors are a little bit higher than head hieght and they already have *very* subtle blue point lights in front of them.

I want to leave the tops of the... things... flat, standing on there is the only way you can get a decent field of fire in that room (or 'turret territory' as I like to call it).

I may add more pipes and girders running horizontally up in the dark ceiling.

In the first shot the far cryo thing looked a little like it was floating, maybe some trim round it where it meets the floor. Nice an steamy <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo--> i like it.

That second shot really brought out the room, you already added the effect i suggested (Although we couldnt see it). Just goes to prove mappers should make as many angles as possible on our screenshots.

I like all of the shots.

The mist (i don't like to call it steam because steam gives the image of a hot room...) effect really gives it a unique cold looking atmosphere. It needed that blue ambience you gave it and people who think otherwise have no sense of atmospheric lighting :\

When its hot, add a tad orange to the lighting, when its cold add a tad blue. That's all...its not like he made it a disco arena. Jeez. (Example of abuse: Disco Hive) <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

I think you're misinterpereting what people have said here, Radiocage... we LIKE the lighting. Although I can see where you might get the opposite impression from.

Wow, i like this style more than the other one, it looks purdy and with this cryo layout you wont have any trouble with r_speeds =)
I like it, but maybe some more shadows would add a better atmosphere

Stop making me drool on my keyboard.

Someone suggested vertical pillars of equipment from the center of each array to the ceiling; I would second the idea, and perhaps some struts coming out at an angle from said pillar over each pod.  I suggest struts as a possible place for skulks to ambush.  Oo!  or, recess the ceiling over each pod, with some nice shadows in the recessed area.  These are just ideas, of course - if you left it as-is, I'd still absolutely love it.  Great work.

nar, the top of those thingos is good turret position,
but since the room is moderately lit and fairly open, what would be perfect is if you had some pillars or pipes or grates up the top just below the ceiling, where aliens could crawl and be hidden from view
keep the whole ceiling in the shadows,
so when marines look up, they just see pipes or whatever and then black or ceiling, and since the rest of the room is visible they think its all clear..
them BAM! Skulk drops on their head

    just a suggestion.

It´s Hillarious =) that upper angle was orgasmic, 1 question, wheres the "steam" comin from? the pipes or from the cryo cristals or somthin?
The only thing that bugs me is the floor texture, but thats just personal issues =)

Gorgeous.  I'm a little concerned about framerates in Commander Mode, with all those mist sprites.  Are they particle systems or sprites?  If they're PS, you might look into the effect Merkaba made use of in NS_Hera's "Fog Corridor" - namely, several large, nearly transparent sprites spaced down the corridor, producing very convincing fog.
