The Sims is addictive, I'd know, my sister's hooked on it. I couldn't imagine her being able to pay the fee to play it online, she'd go berserk. It's a little boring single player I think, but if it were free I think I'd spend a bit of time on it screwin around. The more addictive the game the more likely they are to mess around with it.

My sister is hooked on the sims, but likely it'll just turn into something quite likely resembling Habbo Hotel or Neopets, with lots of chatting and people saying "a/s/l? omg i luv u"

The Sims was a cool game. Way more interactive and fun than the regular Sim City games. However, it did get quite repetitive for me. I mean, my Sims go to work, come back home, eat dinner, takes a bath and goes to sleep--repeat process. Hehe but it was funny, I remember my male Sim character died from changing the lightbulb; got electrified into dust.

I have had one of those accounts for a while. To me it is worth the $6 a month to get fast downloads, with no lines.

1.2GB download , yikes!!!

And what's wrong with The Sims?
• loofboteloofbote Join Date: 2002-07-15 Member: 948Members
halo=good sims=bad. wanna know why sims is bad? What is the point of the game? I mean its such a slow game, you play it for hours and dont realize it because its soo slow and its all the same! its not even realistic, it takes the 5 minutes to walk to their bathroom, it takes me less than 30 seconds for me to get to mine. I mean hmmm make them eat, Laugh at them for not knowing how to walk through their house, make them sleep, make them go to bathroom, make them get job and go to it. Its boring because theres not much to it. I mean you can play it for a long time due to the fact that it takes so long for everything. But the online 1 is gonna have alot more to it, more freedom. You can actually go to others houses, and you work at your work. Imagine lag in that game. Because i have no idea what it would be like.

I liked the Sims, it was the micro management.

Well thats not the only way to get the beta! I was signed up to this sims newsletter thing by accident (don't ask me how&#33 and they sent me a letter saying I could get in the beta. Hey I had to give em 5 bucks to send me the CD but it should be worth every penny.

The only other way to get it is by pre-paying the whole thing. They'll also have some viewable icon showing that you were part of it.

Either way, you're gonna pay.

what is your thought-process behind this? why pay for something that they *should* be providing for free. when people need to download a new update they force them into hour long waits, or make them pay.. its retarted.. thats why i never use fileplanet. in fact i do everything i can *not* to use them.

Free? With a boatload of bandwidth still, they should be careful. I mean it's not their fault alot of people use their service and big company games send premiere stuff to their site. I mean if they could make monney off it, hail to them.

Yes, exactly. I mean, perish the thought that FilePlanet is in no way obligated to offer you anything at all. Nothing. Nowhere does it say that Gamespy is required to give you free downloads. Nowhere does it say that Gamespy is required to offer you free product updates. Nowhere does it say that Gamespy guarantees you a god damned thing. They are providing you with a very valuable service, and they can take it away any time they choose.

Maybe you don't understand, but in the real world, everything costs money. Maybe you also don't understand, but in the real world, a companies goal is to make money, not lose it. I mean, screw FilePlanet and Gamespy for trying to make a profit! Screw them for trying to be able to run a viable business. Hell, screw them for trying to be able to pay their employees, so they can support their families.

Bandwidth costs money. It's not free to send data over the internet. You have to pay some kind of monthly fee for your access, and they have to pay a fee for transmitting data. FilePlanet, I'm assuming, probably goes through anywhere from 100 to 1000 GB or more of data per day. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a lot more. All those GB's add up to really large costs, and no way in hell will selling ad space be able to cover all of it. So if a company decides that, in order to make some money (oh, heaven forbid), they should offer fee based subscriptions granting quicker access to files, and access to various special offers, that company instantly becomes some kind of ungodly evil? Many thousands of companies throughout the world do the exact same thing.

FFS people. The world does not revolve around you. You can't always get what you want, when you want. You can't expect everything to be handed to you on a silver ####### platter.

I am not a FilePlanet subscriber. I simply don't have the money. But you'll never hear me ######## about the way things work over there. Maybe it's because I actually have enough of a mind of my own to be able to see the big picture.

Sheep go bah. Bah, sheep! Bah!
