Super jump, not wings!!
I had a revalation. One that improved my jping by HUGE amounts!
My biggest problems with jetpack before were either getting stuck on the ceiling (i.e. running into a rafter and stopping), and running out of juice and then falling to the 5 hungry skulks after me. I'd just hover around the room, finger constantly on space.
-----
If you don't already, good players jump around to avoid skulks. They somehow keep the skulks at arms length, constantly lighting them up.
Now lets extend this to the jp. Think of a jetpack not like something to stay in the air, but something instead to extend your jumps that you'd normally make to avoid aliens. Not only does this save energy so you just about never run out, but actually works better at dodging! It'd less predictable than going in circles around the ceiling. Also, you rarely touch the ceiling and don't have to worry about getting stuck!
Stay alert and land to recharge in those spare moments when all the aliens are across the room, and when they approach, fly to the other side and repeat. The whole time pelting them with bullets of course.
Now instead of holding down space, I usually just briefly tap it.
Hope this helps! Happy jetpacking!

No, they changed that in 2.0 I believe. Really was annoying that you had to use juice to control your decent or you would take damage. Nope, you can jump off K2 with a JP and take no damage .
I usually have always done this with a jp, based purely on available fuel. If you just burst WAY up, then just fall down somewhere other than where you took off, you'll evade most average skulk players, and never run out of juice. Definately a must for those large hive rooms in Combat.

Never noticed that before. Thank's for pointing that out!
/me goes off to unleash some JP ownage.
you jump like in 45° initial and you get somewhere else, then you do the jump again...
try not to be to predictable, skulks can be in your falling place before you, but just if you dont get creative.
i once was jumoing around shooting for 3 minutes at the hive with 5-8 skulks, fades and lerks tryin to get me, so funneh....i died then, made anotehr run on the hive and killed it,if anybody hovers wif the jp they are either a bot or a noob

I hate it when that happens. You are flying about blowing chunks out of the hive when suddenly you notice your fuel is low. Then you look down and see five skulks at your landing point....

I've done that in combat.
Shotgun, jp and resupply. Pretty much had the whole alien team trying to take me down while I shredded their hive to pieces.
When hovering is used right (very hard thing to do) you can fly circles above the aliens at topspeed without loosing very much juice. (you can fly circles in the smalest rooms without touching the ceiling when you do it right )
i just said that ages ago
